didnt get many pics (again)
anyway, here's pelon at bodie. he rode there on a ZX-10 with DOT race tires like a boss
everyone else ate his dust and was quite unhappy about it
so instead they decided to show off their special skills
they eventually just had to eiffel tower him
mandy and unicorn power were happy to have conquered lucky boy pass on their street bikes
machete's duc and my XB9 keeping the liter bikes honest up in dem hills
and one more of my bike when i got back to SF. it did a great job at playing adventure touring bike

So one of the first things I did when I arrived Friday was go tour the Ordanace Museum with Tanya and Roman. Lots of cool stuff in there and the old timer who worked there was full of knowledge. Nice folks and it's not every day I see an atomic bomb. This is the inside of a cluster bomb
Two buds about to grub some Mexican food
PORTABLE, WORKING, 8 track player!!! Someone told me I should offer to buy it...they were right. I should have. I could have been all the rage showing up to the beach with my portable 8 track player popping in some old disco tracks...or something.
Started Saturday with a dirt ride with these fine gentlemen and Gwyenne. I wasn't worthy!! We found dirt...real dirt! As easy or as challenging as you would like it to be, with trails all over those hills. Sand got a bit deep in some spots for me and I didn't have the skills these two do so I went back to shower up and try a ride a bit more my speed
For this next bit the plan was to ride Lucky Boy Pass into Bodie.
Lucky Boy Pass starts off wide and well graded
Later you hit a little side road that's a bit narrower
And sometimes rocky
Over a hill and through the woods (and 30 miles of dirt)
And you eventually arrive to Bodie.
Too much to see there. Highly worth the visit if you haven't been before. Well preserved and pretty big even though what we see today is only 5% of the buildings that were there during it's peak.
That night it was over to Joes Tavern for some tricycle racing action
And a little after that back to the parking lot I saw some elves wrapping a present. The identities of the guilty have been masterfully concealed.
I didn't take nearly as many photos as I should have so I'm counting on all of you to fill in the gaps! :thumbup

What a fantastic trip! I have a few shots but, as usual, didn't take nearly enough pictures.
We saw this bumper sticker on the way to the rally. At this point, we knew it was going to be a good weekend:
Shortly before arrival in Hawthorne, there were state troopers forcing all traffic to stop and pull off of the roadway. We soon found out why:
Eventually, we got to Hawthorne and the fun began. Scared of the inevitable shennanigans, my scooter slept inside.
We tried to find an elusive hot spring on Friday, to no avail. In the process, my front brake lever fell off and I had some sort of mystery oil leak. (Oil level was fine and no further leaking occurred after that).
Saturday morning, we set out to find some good dirty riding. ThumperX's bike was running poorly, so she went back to the hotel to check it out. Turned out to be nothing more than a sticky choke cable.
Meanwhile, Joe, Tom, and I found some pretty fun stuff to ride. The sand was deep and some of the hills were quite steep and rutted, but it was glorious.
Joe did pretty darned well on that heavy dualsport, and Tom just plain ripped on his 300cc Euro cheater bike. Here are a few pics from the day:
We had so much fun that, after returning to town for lunch, I went back out. I saw some pretty fun stuff until this happened:
Fortunately, after pushing it out to the highway and getting a couple of miles closer to town, a local stopped and gave me a ride back (Thanks, Perry!)
I jumped in the pool to cool off and rested up for Saturday night. Ahhhhh, Saturday night in Hawthorne....

Sunday morning was gorgeous, if a bit smoky.
Kyle probably shouldn't have thrown so many people into the pool on Saturday....
Eventually, we were all packed-up and ready to roll back. We stopped to see Andy's amazing treehouse and play on his zipline (not a euphemism).
I didn't take pics of anything while I was there, except for this quick snap of the lake on our way out.
Gwynne knows the best places to stop and sight see on 108....
What an amazing weekend. So many highlights, including having the honor of rooming with the incredibly and generous Moin Khan, riding dirt with Tom and Joe, and driving up and back with the gorgeous Gwynne :love. The barbeque was amazing, and the entire weekend was absolutely unforgettable. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing and spending time with the Lollar family. Such amazing folks. :wave Kyle. Yup, yup. Right?
