Great to meet everyone today, although you'll have to forgive me if I don't remember you name the next time we meet. I'm more likely to remember what you ride.

* Carlo - Thanks for being the driving force for the meet-up. Too bad you're only in the area for the 4th of July.
* John - Thanks for your hospitality and opening the SFMC to us. What a fantastic place.
* Dennis - Thanks for creating BARF! :)

Sorry i had to bail before the meetup. Great meeting up in Bolinas with you and your beautiful BMW Carlo!:ride I can't believe that you were riding the very vintage classic that I was lusting for at The vintage museum ...1 in 800 odds! :cool
(Was it me or did we receive an escort on every road we were on?:laughing)

Til next time:party

Thanks to everyone who showed up, and especially thanks to SFMCJohn for hosting this in the little peice of genuine motorcycling history that is the SFMC clubhouse.

I have a whole new set of brothers and sisters.

Dani, thanks for being such a good sport, and I don't mind a bit that you chose to head home at the last minute.
It was bad enough we had to fight the weekend traffic on 101, but having apparently forgotten everything I ever knew about the layout of San Francisco, just getting from the GG bridge to the Mission district was whole 'nother adventure.
You would have been ready to head back to Winters after following me around the City. It took awhile to get my bearings. In 1979, I would have gotten there with no wrong turns. Better that I faced that alone.

It was great to meet everyone. Couldn't find a nicer group of people to spend a Saturday afternoon with. There were some really nice bikes too (the Gilera, Dream and R69S standout in my mind).

Thank you John for hosting us. The history, vibes and ambiance at the SFMC clubhouse are great. I'm sure that many good times have been had there.

Thank you Dennis and Carlos for providing and moderating the BARF Vintage forum.

I hope we can get together and kick old tires again sometime soon.

Nice meeting you Carl & John yesterday at the SFMC and thanks for opening up the clubhouse for us. Thanks for the welcome and the ... beer !

Nice meeting Leonard and Kalle and the visitors from LA & NYC as well !!

Too bad everybody else left already when I got there ~ 5:15pm. Had to stop by the house once to switch to the bike as I was coming back to San Jose once from a good friend's 80th birthday party in Santa Cruz! Too bad I missed you too Dani !! :(

Carl, you just rode off and Gwynne pull up in her truck !! :x

I took 280 S home and had a nice little detour to via 84 up to Alice, then Skyline 35 and 9 home to SJ !! The golden color over the Peninsula from Skyiine was gorgeous and the fog / cloud on the ocean side was such a site !!

Nice day to be out :rideing !! :thumbup:thumbup

Haha. I haven't been riding long, but I definitely, have the bug! Went on a group ride today and rode the Dream about 170 miles. Lots of fun.

Sorry, I missed meeting the other folks that arrived at SFMC later But it gives us an excuse to have another vintage meet up. :)

Is that an H1F?

I'm so envious! My first new motorcycle was an H1F that I bought from Jackson motors.
I sold it as a basket case several years ago to a motorcycle parts guy.
Funny thing is, I got what it cost me new (not accounting for inflation).
The parts guy probably tripled his money on ebay.
He kept one part, which he gave back to me. The siezed middle piston. I parked it because I thought I'd blown the crankcase seals. Ran like a very shakey 250.

Let's do a ride next year.

H1 yes. F :dunno

Will check the manual. Comes with stock tool kit, manual and original tires. 8k miles.
Plan on making it perfect. Plans change of course and I intend to ride it. When I had my RD 350 this was the stuff of dreams for me. Can't wait to hear it run. Tuesday is pick up. First ride...Tuesday!!!

It is all your fault Carlo. :p

Mine was the same color.

Do not, I repeat, do not turn that bike into a cafe racer!

Oh, and I may still have an original sales brochure showing a guy (could have been any of us) sitting on a highway guardrail admiring his new H1. The caption says something like "it was the sound that got me".
If I can find that I'll send it to you. Oh, and I still have a parts book for it.

These later models don't have the serious handling problems of the early ones. I could hold my own on skyline and 9, but they're still kinda "flexi fliers"
Supposedly installing Bronze swingarm bushings helped (you have my permission to do that, check out Purple Haze Racing), and better rear shocks are a big help.

But David Jackson told me the quick solution is to go WFO out of the corners. The extra tension on the swingarm tended to lock things down back there for better stability.
Dave was a great rider who ran an H2 at Sears Point.
I never had the courage to try his suggestion.

I am planning on keeping it stock.. and not pushing it hard enough to worry about it.
I am aware of there lack of skills in the cornering department. Had a high school buddy with some very wide open eyes at times..:laughing

Would love the sale brochure.
