When are the appearance dates? Maybe the fiscal year has something to do with it...

I’d guess it’s the driving record if anything.

You'd previously said "both have clean driving records" so I figured you had a clean driving record. That might explain it :dunno

Sorry, I should have explained - I took the driving school for that point.

Everything, everything, EVERYTHING equal it should be the same. I'm talking driving history, exactly what the citation said, mailing addresses, etc. I'm guessing at least one thing varies between the two of you. Really, though, I seriously doubt they made any mistakes. Just pay the fine and :ride on.

Well, I'm gonna fight the ticket anyway. We'll see what they have to say.

I’d save your time which equals money to me and just pay the fine, go to traffic schoo if eligible, and slow down. There are times someone tells a story here and maybe we all see that the officer could have made a mistake, human error happens, and you’ll get some good advice. But you already admitted to speeding and Lidar is very difficult to beat in traffic court. As others mentioned two people can receive a speeding ticket from one officer using one Lidar at same time. I’ve pulled two people over at the same time for speeding just as you have described several times.

So how's it going to go over when the Judge says you're right and bumps your buddy's by $51? Careful what you ask for...

Believe traffic court can still see your previous violation for prior history reasons. Based on the 55MPH, im guessing you were in Marin. There are bail enhancements in Marin, most typically based on your driving history.

Rookie with his/her FTO, you're gonna get fawked for anything and everything most likely. In the PD here, that's how it goes and the "rookies" aren't even allowed to talk to anyone other than their FTO and no one will even talk to them.
