Do you have an aversion to Asian cars? Your budget and needs would be clearly aligned and the reliability is built in...

I guess I do. I should get over it but all the Asian cars in my price range seem to already have 80,000 miles or more.

I think it's pretty clear OP is looking for a money pit and not a commuter.

There's like a 2x factor when it comes to asian cars versus shitty american/german/whatever cars, so 160k on a toyota is akin to 80k on something else.

It is generally very clearly understood that for the money German Brands, never ever buy a Mercedes, BMW or Audi. You lease those, because they are built to implode by the end of the warranty.

They used to make tanks up until the 1980's, but from what I understand, there was some kind of chemical industry supply crisis in the 90's that had them all start making shitty plastic for their parts that led to terrible long term survivability on a lot of connections and light wear parts. The plastics were fixed by the 2000's, but by then, the engineering standards on German vehicles had changed and the over engineered beasts of German Machines in prior decades had gone the way of the dodo in their auto industry.

A 150k Toyota will probably be more reliable than a 50K BMW.

I never really had any problems with my Audi A3 Quattro/1.8t, but it was basically a repackaged Golf.

If only you had a client who could buy something at Dealer wholesale. You need to get one of those, Mike.

A 2015 V6 Passat Premium with 50-60K on the clock is about $10K. A I4 Premium is around $8K withb 70-80K miles.

A 2015 Honda Accord I4 EX-L with about 60K miles is around $11-12K. There's a few $$ in auction fees as well.

Well, I was able to secure some extra Christmas funds and I ended up with the nicest car I've ever owned... A 2016 Volkswagen CC Sport with 21k miles. Thanks, everyone for your input and MERRY CHRISTMAS! :)

Congrats! I had a CC a few years back. Loved it.
Fun car, they look amazing and feel very luxurious for the price point.
