Check out this....beautiful gauge cluster.

Uh...well...gauge cluster.

These are the other bits that go into it and show under the dome.

These are special gauges. They aren't lit up by bulbs-it's actually bunch of layers:

One layer of vitreous enamel coated steel is the gauge base.
One layer of solid ceramics is applied over that.
One layer containing electroluminescent phosphorus in ceramic base.
One transparent electrically conductive layer applied over that.
Last a layer of glassy coating is added for the final touch.

It's fed by a high voltage doohickey under the dash that has surprised a few mechanics in an unpleasant manner.

The whole thing glows. Even the pointers.

Only a few places exist that can rebuild them. I sent 'em off.

Such a great story so far Dave!

My dad's old airport car, which has several memories from super young is sitting about 1 mile from where it was always used, in someone's yard. It's been there for 20 years. Thinking of making an offer...and selling my soul and time to something I've not done before (full resto...)

Love watching your progress.

Rare seven button radio. Foot controlled, amongst other things.

I've been looking for one for years.

Well I've got this 69 Charger I could use some direction advice on, but not that one...this is a 70 Impala Wagon, IIRC.

an impala wagon is soon to be, if not already, an IT car. if you're going to make an offer do it soon before jay leno does a feature on them and the prices skyrocket for rusted out junk

I advise you to give me your '69 Charger

:laughing

Cheapskate.

Holeshot, I'll give you an unspecified size bag of hobo dollars and all the random orphan moto spares I've collected for the last 25 years. At least 2 truckloads!

I've been searching hard for a 68 to 70 charger to build. Or maybe you're interested in a classic land cruiser trade???

I'll be up this week to see if they still have it. Watch it turn out to be a Vista or something...

I so should have done this years ago. I should love the thing, but I pretty much hate it. It's the "but wait, there's MORE" build, fully...I'm about to the point where I'm gonna put a confederate flag on the roof and park it in downtown Richmond.

Cheapskate.

That V70R had my heart....

I'm happy to offer advice that may be worth 2-3 times what you've going to pay for it. :laughing

Nothing more valuable than untethered advice!
