A Supermotard is basically a dirtbike with street tires and brakes. The idea is to have a lot of suspension travel to deal with bumps and jumps but also sticky tires and big brakes to deal with race track speeds and braking.levitation said:do you guys slide the rear of the motards on the street?
what exactly makes a motard a motard?
how do you ride the motards in comparison to a sportbike, ie like at lean angle on the track etc.
They seem like a good bike to learn more on and make your sportbike riding better. As in learning to spin the rear and stuff like that.

A motard is a bike made to do anything, From track to dirt to billy-goat trails it should do them all. See this thread:

This is my first motard, a DR650e with GSX-R rear, brake, tripple, and wheels and a KLX front end.
Hey... Nice Hooligan bike dude!
Whats up with the front light setup. I like it. Something for my TransAlp maybe.

Very experienced riders slide in the turns on the race track, generally using engine braking and clutch to control the slide but you don't HAVE to ride like that to have a "Motard". On the street, Motards are perfect "Hooligan" bikes... :shhh

Was she from Santa Cruz too? :loco :laughingBeauregard said:Actually I had that same color scheme on an XR650l as well and both times it helped sell the bike. A woman saw my XR650l on ebay and pretty much made he husband buy it for her. What caught her eys was the zebra skin.
