Post a picture of your vintage ride(s)

The Antique Motorcycle Club of America has had a
35 year year rolling definition,
so that’s 1982, I suppose ...

... I’m guessing the rolling 35 year AMCA
will change, or in six years my water-cooled,
fuel injected ‘88 K75s will qualify for
the AMCA ... I’m loooking forward
to my ‘85 Evo qualifying in 2020 ... :laughing

... the AFM has (had?) a Super Dinosaur Class
that was ten years old ... always enjoyed looking
at those race bikes ...

I’d say we’re pretty flexible on Vintage Cafe ... :thumbup

About 4500 miles. Runs well, just need to fix a couple frayed wires to get the lights working again, and keeping it stock after that. Anybody have any luck using LED bulbs on a 6V bike?

It's great having an old bike that already works, instead of starting with a complete basket case -- as I've done with a project car in the past!

Cb450 Black Bomber,took me 49 years!

My buddy built a custom turbocharged mono-shock monster out of one of these back in 1980, as his design/build project for his engineering degree.

It had a giant garret turbo, ran 30psi boost, water methanol injection, pressure retarded ignition and a giant plenum chamber. It also snapped a duplex chain while on one wheel at >100MPH at a dragstrip. :wow :ride

It doesn't qualify as a cafe racer ... in fact I'd appreciate it if someone would tell me what it does qualify as ... but it was mine and I loved it: my best bike out of the dozens I've owned. Some bat-faced f*ck stole it c. 1989 or '90.

Ready to Ride

Ready to Ride
Looks like a Brit bike with chopperish front end, extended forks and all.

A triple pox on thieves!

all this hoo-ha has me remembering how local hot shoe Tyler O'Hara wuz ROBBED! @ the XR1200 finale when he playfully grabbed Barney's ass to dispute 1st on their way to checkers

it was a friendly, common-in-FT move that cost him big -
DQ cost him mucho $$ & his place on 'ship podium.....

Re Tired Not Dead
Shit. It appears I can't insert a OneDrive or a DropBox link to my photo(s).

I'll work on a way to get this image to load.

A beauty shot of the KZ550 I turned into a "Street Tracker".

The swing-arm is from a ZX9, the wheels and forks from a ZX6.
Frame was mostly de-tabbed. Hand built wiring harness with ATO mini-fuses and auto-reset circuit breakers.

It took me a long winter of poking it with a stick in the garage to get it finished.

Oh - it's also for sale as of Nov 20,2018.

Junkie

gone for now
not mine, was my father's. was a wonderfully set up bike (by Knoscher)

knoscher.jpg

Apparently a base 1978 model year R100S motorcycle.
Originally set up by Fritz Scherb, of KnoScher, Munich.
Imported & sold new in 1979 by ManxMan, San Francisco.
I am the third owner (Rich Wood, Jim Ghiron, Me).
I bought it in about 1984 in somewhat deteriorated condition.

Current "special" features:

Blueprinted engine.
Factory after-market cam, part # not known but not 334.
Balanced bottom and top end.
Light wristpins.
High-compression pistons.
Lightened flywheel.
Light pushrods.
Dual concentric valve springs.
Del 'Orto 40mm carburetors.
Factory 40mm exhaust system.
Some head flow work.
Dyna III electronic ignition.
Twin spark plugs per cylinder.
Oil condenser / recirculation at crankcase breather.
3 quart Heukerot oil sump.
Factory oil cooler.

Factory close-ratio 5-speed transmission.
Factory 33/11 final drive with disk brake.
Factory 1984 forks & sliders (for Brembo calipers).
AfterShocks revised front suspension.
Fork Brace by TeleFix.
Twin floating front disks from M.A.P. Engineering.
Handlebar brake master cylinder (Magura).
Galfer stainless steel brake lines.
Koni rear shocks.
Sigma (VDO) BC-800 digital speedometer / odometer.
Oil pressure, oil temperature, clock, voltmeter.

KnoScher rear-set foot pegs.
K-1 handlebars.
KnoScher front fender.
R90S fairing (frame mounted on modified R100RS bracket).
R90S seat pan with Corbin seat.
Factory /7 police tank with tool box.

I think that's about it.
This bike has achieved an indicated 140mph two-up.
(This was prior to installing the 33/11 final drive.
It was a little taller then.)
Power band extends well beyond redline, I have taken
the RPMs very high without loss of power and without
damage to valves etc.

The single most significant handling improvement has been
to frame-mount the S fairing. (The original KnoScher body work
was removed by a previous owner.)
I had the option of keeping it when he died, but knew I wasn't going to treat it the way it deserved to be treated so it went to a family friend/riding buddy.

I am slow!
Before and after of my 83 Yamaha XJ750. It’s not 100% finished yet. Still need to do paint, powder coat and refinishing.
