.Welp, got around to mothballing vintage bike #2, 1966 cb450 hardtail.
Yes, I know the 66 is a valuable k0 bike, but this one had the battery box cut out of the frame so there was no restoring it, plus 6" over forks and a bunch of other 1970s chopper mods when I got it for $75 20+ years ago.
At first I made the custom hardtail and raked it out to a long and low chopper, it lived like that and went to Vancouver and back before the original 4 speed blew up.
When building a new 5 speed engine for it I decided to turn it into a bobber, with scrambler DNA. Here is how it sits now with the 6" over forks holding a pair of clipons, just because they can, and work great.

Older pics of print photos are from the original construction.

great fun!
thx for sharing a “unique” Bomber, x2

Found this fibber out front of the oldest drinking establishment in NV.

I could't find the spark plugs?
Under the top cover of the engine?

Who would bury a plug under a cover and need to pull the gas tank just to get an old oily turnip to run?

Fibber

I offer that the ‘19 Speed Twin is an affordable “truth teller”

Bit silly with the Triumph badges, but having owned one of those and also ridden the modern bonneville I would say that Kawasaki did a way better job creating a bike that "feels" like a vintage machine than the new triumphs do. Too bad they only brought them to the US for a couple years.

I think I found the plugs, that hose clamp looking thing on the left jug where the cut away valve cover stops.
Looks like a tube that shields the plug, hemi style.

Last one of these I saw was the 800 in GOAZ Motos in Scottsdale, April '19.

All the water-cooled Triumph twins are running 270 cranks now, won't ever sound like the 360 cranks of yore.

Originally a '76 860GT, over the years it was turned into a racebike, blew the motor, and is currently in the ER.
I'm going with a crank mounted electronic ignition, oversized pistons, carillo rods and external oil lines from sump to head, as this was a weak spot in the early bevelheads. Kevin Bracken raced one back in the early '80's and fortunatly for me has a tech article about how he accomplished most of the plumbing.
I'm hoping to have it on a BARF ride by December.

Thanks for looking.

I got this for my birthday last week. Unfortunately I won't have time to deal with it for months so it's hanging with the Bultacos.

A happy new old bike owner. My GF bought this 1971 r60/5 on Friday and decided it needed a proper shake down, so we did an overnight camping trip to hwy 20. I rode the r60/2 hack so we could bring the co-driver pup.

Found this in Los Osos,

This bike has smog stickers that claim it is an '05, and an electric starter.
The engine looks more like an Ural than BMW.

This is as vintage as i got. For what it's worth, 2 rear shocks, and you gotta kickstart it. Full engine rebuild, some cosmetic improvements. I am SO happy to be riding this bike again.
