New Job!!!

Gragorin

Your local Trauma Nurse..
I worked within Info Security for WaMu. I liked it.. I did more of the Government compliance side of things (SOX, GLBA) more than I did any of the hardware. But I'd love to get back into it if I could.

From what I heard.. The test for CISSP caught alot of people off-guard and most had to take it a 2nd time.

Heh, I guess it was due to my background and all but I found the CISSP exam pretty easy when I took it.. :p

so, round four over and done with phew. That was the most intense interview of the lot of them, and over the phone and I *hate* phone interviews, I end up rambling on :(

Apparently they want to make the decision tomorrow or Friday, so fingers crossed for me peeps, I really need and job, and not just any job. This one is right up my alley, utilizes my skills perfectly, introduces me to new oracle applications (manufacturing) so enhances the resume, pays what I need, and isn't in butt f00k egypt :rofl

What about you Melissa, any news on a job on your front :confused

Keep hope alive!

4 days.

argh

just got an email from them "the interview panel will meet next Friday to discuss the applicants....."

goddammit, if I didn't wow them into me by now, I don't see my chances improving with a delay of a week for them to get together to discuss the candidates

f00k

:(

I've had the similar experience with Sun Microsystems about 10 years ago, I was going thru recruiter and went thru 4 rounds of interviewing. I even spoke with my boss-to-be and she already showed me my work desk and said "I can't wait to get you on board".

Then, 2 days later I get a message that they decided to fill the position internally. To this day, I still wonder if recruiter screwed something by perhaps asking too much for their fee.... Anyway, I moved on and found a different jog but it was nowhere close to what I was going to do at Sun.

I wish you all the best and do not get hard on yourself if things do not work out with these guys. The fact that you went thru 4 rounds of interviewing should give you lots of confidence in your abilities and value. :thumbup

tapping fingers on desk, waiting patiently.........

I bet they are interviewing more candidates this week, so I am not quite the "shoe in" I thought I was.

Oh well............

Anything yet? They really know how to fuck with someone's patience.

Still I am keeping my fingers crossed for ya :)

thanks :)

So, the interview panel was supposed to meet last Friday to discuss the candidates, in my naivete I expected to hear something on Friday.....

nope

Yesterday morning I get an email from the hr person saying "we weren't able to meet Friday, we are going to try again at 4pm today. I know you are anxious to hear, as soon as I know something I will call/and or phone you"

(yes I know, call/phone are the same, but I have to admit this woman has not shown herself to be the sharpest tool in the damned shed :rolleyes)

So, again in my naivete, I expected to hear something last night (as they have called me 6'ish previously to arrange interviews)

nope

No email either

No email today
No phone call today

I swear, this is leaving a really bad taste in my mouth. When I asked her originally why they were delaying the decision making meeting until last Friday (when it was supposed to be the Friday prior) she emailed me a (what I interpreted to be) a really snotty fucking email, along the lines of:

"I have omitted nothing, there is nothing that you need to be concerned with, thank you for asking, have a nice day"

:wtf now don't get me wrong, I treat all levels the same, janitor to CXO, you treat me with respect I treat you with respect. Simple. but her response really brought out the bad side of me, along the lines of "look lady, I am sorry, but I am not a junior level person begging for a job. I am a very senior enterprise applications manager, applying for a position with a salary north of $100k, how DARE you fucking patronize me like this" :x

I was pissed but said nothing. I'm waiting to get an email telling me I don't have the job, instead of a call, in which case I will be tempted to email her back saying something along the lines of "well I do thank you for your time, and I wish you the best with the candidate you have chosen, after four rounds of interviews I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to call me and give me the rejection. Oh wait, never mind"

ya know what I mean :rofl

B - how's the new jobby job?

...B - how's the new jobby job?...
I'm loving every minute of it!

It's a new office for this department. Each state agency is required by law to have an Information Security Officer on staff in their executive office. I work for her and am in charge of the security awareness program. So my job is basically to develop the program for this department using ISO27000, resources from NIST as well as the state ISO to develop a program tailored to this department and its resources.

It's looking like it will be much less technical is nature than what I have been doing for the last 7-8 years, but I'm looking forward to the new challenges.

I'm back in this place, and the view is nice. :)

:laughing

I stopped riding for quite a while after the babies started rolling in. But in the last year I've picked up riding to work regularly and hope to get back out in the hills soon enough.

I also moved out here to Sac, so hitting any fun roads requires a commute just to get there. I surely miss hitting Berryessa. Maybe it's time to pick up a couple 50's and hit Prarie City with the kids. :ride
