The thing with those no pen/doors open shower concepts is that drainage needs to be really good. If it's restricted in anyway then your entire floor turns in to shower pen. Even without it water splashes all over and entire floor is slightly wet and more then likely messy.

Exactly. My hotel went with this open concept (along with trendy basin sinks that are too small/shallow to hand wash anything in) when we did a major remodel a few years back. They look great when you walk into the room, but the housekeepers hate them, maintenance hates them and the guests hate them. Major blunder.

When we were house hunting, we stumbled upon a couple of hybrids.

Simply, it's an "open shower", as in it doesn't have any real door, but it's a deep shower with the head quite far from the door, with walls. So, little water would (in theory) escape the door itself.

That said, when I see a "luxury" shower like this:

I know who ever designed it doesn't have to live with, or clean it.

One time I stayed at a hotel in Brighton in the UK. The entire bathroom was the shower. Big rain head fixture in the center of the room, drain directly under. Toilet was off to the side, as was the sink/mirror. Everything was spaced out enough that you didn't need to worry about soaking towels/tp

Check out AirBnB in London and Paris. Those are quite common. Usually the shower rains down onto the toilet.

Waffle stomper was the use of imported hiking boots with a vibram sole back in late '60's backpacking craze, leaving footprints.

Whatever you do, make sure you video the renovation and title it "From Brassy to Classy."

The one in the UK was actually fairly swank and nice, if a bit kinky (bummer I was there by myself on business)

I also stayed in a budget hotel in copenhagen last year for one night, that was technically laid out the same - but it was incredibly tiny and had all the comforts of a bathroom on a 737.

Thanks. Lots to plow through but looks like a good start.

sounds like you are looking for something pre-fab. in our case it required custom. we’re looking at the ‘wet room’ concept for a future remodel
I was hoping it would be some standard size. It's builder spec in a cookie cutter house so I doubt they ordered these things in some odd custom configuration.

I don't like open showers. I don't want to feel like I'm on display in an aquarium. The cold air up your butt sucks too. I'd rather go the other route and do an enclosed steam shower but that's way too much time, effort, and money.

Nope - water & soap get sprayed everywhere. IMO it's akin to having a bathtub with no sides.
