Kawi H1f rebuild thread

Well, there you have it. A rider of a Kawi triple wouldn't say "I beg to differ" either.
Riders of Kawi triples, Z1's, any Triumph twin carb, right hand shift Sportsters, single cylinder Brit bikes 500cc and over and a few others have a different set of rules.
Some include: never wear white socks that show while your riding, if you smoke, only smoke Camels without the panties, and when you drink coffee, you just drink coffee.
Lunch is either a burger, a bowl of chili, or a chili burger.
I've said too much already.

Yes, yes you have. Lacist. :x

the paint codes may be useless these days.
the original color can be scanned at a good body shop or auto paint store from a non-faded bit of bodywork. under the seat, etc.

That is what I found... crap.

The shop is resisting doing that.. guess I have to get it to someone better suited. Bummer.

The petcock I got has two gas lines.. and a vent.
Original has three gas lines... DUH!!!

So I guess back to the drawing board on that.. :|

These two items are all that are left... everything else is done.

:rolleyes And you didn't tell me? I have to come on here to find this out? Who's doing the work?

Um, yeah. We gots the guy in the midwest who still shoots in real paint.

Oh Hey :wave Sorry I missed it.. too much going on. Now that the Party is done I can focus on getting this finished!!!

My original race mechanic has done all the work. Wobbie.
He did all my shit on my Gamma back in the day.. Sportech Cycle sort of..
I say sort of because most of the work has been at home at night when he can cuddle with the bike and they can spend quality time together. :teeth

And yeah Papi.. give me an address/contact for the painter guy.

Did you try Sudco for the petcock? Or K&L?
I'm a K&L dealer now if that helps. Or one of the specialty places I listed that does triple stuff exclusively.

A good body shop would rather scan it anyway, (good means expensive) or find a crusty old dude that can eyeball it.
I'm sure you found the places that have repro decal sets. They are NOT all the same.

Have you checked out Lakeland Services? They make authorized reproductions of the DENCO exhaust (sweetest sounding aftermarket exhaust I've heard for a triple!! ok'd by Tony Nicosia and Dennis Dean). Sounds like a winner for a replacement exhaust and your neighbors will love you.

Used your sticker contact. Thanks.

We have rebuilt the petcock ourselves. The one I bought did not have a vent tube. The place that would be the vent tube they said hook up to the left cylinder. My mechanic was like :wtf so scavenging some others I think we got one that will work.

Are going back together. Next pic the finished product with me on top. :banana

Has taken longer than I thought. Found a damn leak in the premix oil tank so disassemble. Drain and JB weld. Almost there.

My pet cock needs replacing.

This place offers both a manual replacement petcock requiring you to shut the gas off EACH TIME, or a reman factory vacume petcock by Sudco.
Interesting.
You may even ask if they will buy your old petcock or take it as a core. Who knows.
K&L doesn't offer anything except Pingel. Looks far from original.

It is done. :banana

First ride on thanksgiving. How appropriate. :teeth

I always do a ride around my home town (Palo Alto) on turkey day.
It will be the first time I have rolled around PA on a two smoke since 1977.

Stoked!!
