they are never done.
better keep looking on those specialty sites and ebay for an oil tank.
your repaired one will spew at the worst possible time.
lay in spares.
rubber bushings for the side covers, for the turn signals, footpeg rubbers.
have a set to use and a set for shows.

Loaded and headed home

Here is the bike with my good friend and race mechanic from way back in the day (87) Wobbie.

Started it and stroked it. :laughing

Already found one little issue Al!! You are wise.

Off to DMV on Wednesday for visual inspection and an official registration deal.

Checked out personalized plates last night. Will pick one of the ten I found. Actually I found 20, but 10 are AOK.

Tucked in with her 4 stroke friends.

Way easier to move around, load / unload than any of my other bikes except the Husky. First real ride on Thursday. Need to go find some race gas between now and then.

:cool

It started and idled like a new bike. Really happy to have the journey start its new direction.

Time to ride, pick it apart as far as things to make better.
Consider chambers, find a retro jacket and just enjoy the bomb bike from my high school years.

Appreciate the help Al.
Thanks to Cycle Finish ( barf sponsor page) for the nice paint.
Thanks to Enchanter for picking up the painted stuff.
Thanks to Wobbie from Sportech for treating it like his own.

Thanks to ya'll for reading.

I love crowded garages.
Bikes get to touch each other in the dark.
I think that is where Husabergs came from.

Got my first little ride in. It was shorter than I wanted because people expect Turkey and shit!!

My garage smells different now. I like it.
Fun bike ... Such a different feel from my Multistrada front brakes. :laughing

That's not the smell. :laughing

It is the smell of smoke. :teeth
I rode it into the garage as the wife had it open when I came home.

I mean get in the habit of turning it off always. Bad Juju to leave it on.
Soon, your riding gear will take on the smell of gas and oil.
Wherever you go, when you get there, you'll end up smelling like, well.... Fresno.

The modern 2 cycle oils are so much better. I'm sure you bled your pump and lines to make sure all is well.

The fix was 2 KZ1000 rotors. You had to find an extra fork leg like existing for the mounts IIRC.

Yep; follow manual & make sure you do this routinely. Keep an eye on the tank level & make sure it doesn't fall too low...

Went out riding today. Felt guilty pulling up to the light in between cars and having them smell my fumes. Only a little :p:twofinger

Finally wicked it thru the gears... Felt good speed on the freeway.
Basically really enjoyed it.

When I got home I said thanks and snapped this photo.

Always pat the tank and say thanks when home or after a race when you have that special bike that gets you there or makes you look good doing it.
New bikes don't care so much but vintage bikes have soul so they "get it" when you do that.

Hear you. It was nice kicking a bike again.
2nd kick out the garage and bling ding ding.

My wife came out and asked me to get that smokey thing away from the open garage. :laughing

Get where your coming from Big Al. 4 decades makes for a decent soul.
I am feeling it.

Hey Budman,

Fun kick-starting an old bike, congratulations! :ride

One of my high-school pals had one of these
Kawasaki 750s in 1978 ... I was fascinated
with it ...
