Hey guys, I haven't been on here for quite a while. No excuses, I feel bad about not updating anyone. Some of you may or may not know that back in June the lawsuit was settled. It was really a pyrrhic victory as medical bills, attorneys fees and insurance will gobble up most of anything.

Although it has given me the closure I thought it would, it has also had an unexpected effect. Up until that time I had a reason for my day to day life. The case was all-consuming for me. It gave me the motivation and determination to do something. Now that it's over I find myself very much without a sense of direction.

What's next for me? The big question. I'm someone who was always involved in something passionately, my job was my life, and motorcycles my love. Without either of these, the world has grown quite small and not having found new interests I find things alienating.

I would very much like to take some classes, And have involved myself with the Department of rehab to do so. The one hang up is that my schedule prohibits taking anything in the morning and I have no idea what to take.

On the better side of things, I've grown much stronger in my upper body, due to a piece of equipment I use in my home. It's called a standing frame, and it does just that -let me stand. It's very good for my blood pressure, bones, digestion and overall health. Coupled with my regular rehab in Pleasanton, and a good diet I find myself in the best health I have been in since the accident.

I truly hope I'll be able to go on the barf rally in September, but that hinges on a few things. I purchased a portable patient transfer lift which would allow me to travel, but more importantly I need to find a few people who would be willing to do some care taking. They would be paid of course, but the work is truly undesirable and a of a very personal nature. I should probably post something in the employment section. Maybe there's some RNs or LVNs planning on taking the trip.

Anyway, I just thought you guys deserve an update.
Thank you for your continued support.
All the best,
-Adam

Sound alike a real crossroads man.

I can't even imagine the "now what" thoughts. Hang in there, I hope something eventually comes along the inspires you to keep moving forward.

In for helping you in Hawthorne. I get up super early, so I can easily take the first shift. And I can drive too. Price for you: £0, €0 and $0. But I only give sponge baths above the belly button. No funny business. :twofinger

Carries an axe- you are one strong dude, both mentally and physically. If I can ever help with anything, please let me know.

Hi Adam! Thanks for checking in with us all.:)
I know it sounds scary but the "now what?" is a good place to be in. It shows you are open for the next chapter in your life.
It would be cool to see you at a Barf function but I won't be making Hawthorn.
As far as personal care ,we have our share of (NO, DONT SAY IT!) ass-wipes right here on teh Barf(did I just say that?):rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl.
It's ok my friend , we all need help. You will be providing the 'opportunity' for another human being to step into that roll. People will amaze you if given the chance.
I go to Pleasanton to the office once a week (Stoneridge Mall RD) maybe I could meet up with you some time after your thearpy?
All the best , DT.

Hi Adam :wave

Good to see you posting dear boy :)

I'd offer to help you at the Hawthorne rally, but a couple of things prohibit me from doing so

One, I aint going :rofl

Two: I'm useless at nursing type stuff. I could throw money at the situation for you if needed though, I'm pretty good at that :)

So, who are the nurses around here

Farah (racergirl)
Kelly (nitewaif)
Drew (drewler)
Rick (machete)

Am I forgetting anybody :confused

We should hit them up and see if they are going and would be willing to lend a hand

Hey, I work in Pleasanton too, let me know when you want to meet up after one of your therapy sessions

Say Hi to yer mum for me

:kiss

Adam, I still think you should give software development a try. It can be a steep learning curve but who knows, you might find you like it and then being the smart guy that you are you will certainly progress. If you do not like it that's it, but at least consider it.

Looking towards the future this domain will always be in demand, better paid than many and does not require top physical condition. Plus ya know, it's a form of creation as well, at core not that different from producing a piece of nice jewelry or a yummy dish :)

Still ready to help if you decide to give it a try. Best of luck with everything !!

Thx man, the more people the better. That way I don't monopolize someone's trip.

Hey Adam,

We've never met, but I'm one of many that jumped at the opportunity to make a donation towards a new bed for you via the neck warmer that was sold out of Scuderia West. I didn't even necessarily need it, although it has come in handy; it was just a very good cause. I still have that warmer and it still reminds me of everything I've read about your challenges and determination. You are one strong chap. I'm not much use in the caregiving department since I just manage a gym, but if anything ever pops up and I see that you need something I can provide/help with, you can count on me offering!

Stay in good health, mate.
