iPhone X Delivery Dates

i was on at 12:05am - i'm up around that time anyway - got the push notification via the app store to complete my pre-order (pick phone, plan etc) before the pre order time. Did that - when the site went live - clicked buy and i was done.

Expected delivery date for me is Friday - it's Tuesday and says order is being prepared. Current iPhone still works well so i'm not in a rush to get the X - if it's delayed - it's delayed.

Fear me!
An acquaintance that works at Apple has the X and I got to see it today. It's really nice. Just not worth over $1K to me.

I wonder if we will hit a tipping point, and people will go back to cheaper and more basic phones. I feel that way to be honest, I used to be into getting a new phone with all the tech. Now I do not care, phones have really stopped improving and they are just getting more expensive...

Sometimes I really consider just going back to a flip phone. I'm tired of buying a new $800 device that is trashed in two years.

I think when I look a usage, the price tag is more then fair. I have 0 problem building my own computer for $2k every few years but I complain about replacing a pocket computer for less at the same interval?

I complain about it but it's because they used to be so much cheaper.

So is it actually decent hardware tho or still 2 years behind android based phones?

I think your referencing different things

I think from a hardware/software quality perspective it is higher than others

I think from a features perspective, it's behind

Always on display is an awesome but boring feature that I use all the time. The iPhone still does not have this. And saying "get an Apple watch" is not a good solution... $$$

yeah, it's hard to get on stage and be excited over AoD :laughing

I don't get the need

I would love to see the feature request list for the iPhone and the prioritization matrix

its hilarious to think that a bunch of the people complaining about the X's price are still not finished paying off their $969 7+ (256GB). hell, my 6S 64GB was $750 new and i just paid it off.

Last phone I bought was the Nokia brick back in 2001. It may have been free with my contract. Yeah $1000 for a phone is retarded.

is this semantics? what qualifies as features?

also, while i understand the "pocket computer" thing, how many people use them in the same way they use a laptop/desktop? I actually despise doing stuff on my phone (S7). I make phone calls with them, play stupid games, and browse websites. Browsing is almost all i do with it too since replying is way too text intensive not to use a keyboard for me. Video watch too i guess, but also not enjoyable imo to do much more than about 30 minutes.

Feel bad for people that actually use them for data entry and shit like that. I'd slit my wrists if i used my phone for anything other than i actually do.

I was taking to a mountainbiker at Whistler back in Aug and he was showing me a cool app where he just aimed his phone camera at a mountain range and it would display the elevation of each peak. I thought that was cool. For me its the cool apps, anything else I do on a phone is pretty basic.

features are things that the hardware or software does

I this the fit and finish from both a physical and software statement to be superior on the iPhone

I also think it lacks features that have been on the market for many years.

I also think that it's likely due to their refinement process (features my meet the standards before deployment)

I want a device that will work every single time I pick it up. This is the first time in 8 iPhones that I feel they slipped. There are a few bugs I find unacceptable.

I don't do data entry on the phone nor would I. I use it primarily as you suggest. My use case: calls, texts, emails, photos, calls, and games. In that order. I do think the camera and image processor on the iPhone to be superior.

i will say it's also unlikely i'll ever put another gaming computer together since it doesn't seem like nvidia is interested in further developing any desktop only video cards

now that's a different topic :laughing

People have been saying it for years but at what point are the improvements in performance too small for the value or inaccessible to the performance gamer

Once you get past 4k 60 is there anymore value to be seen?

Intel just deviated from their tick tock schedule because of this as well

I would wager software efficiencies is where we will see the best performance gains in the near term

I'm just the causal gamer and it exceeds my needs but I wanted some function of futureproofing.

nice post but I swear this must've been typed on an iPhone (or a phone)
you have like 4 mistakes , not typos, actual "speech" mistakes.. so I stopped reading at 4 <-

another thing I can't believe some guys talk about "financing" on a $750 or a $959 piece and "Finally paid it off"... You may be referring to the contract but it sounds like financing...
