How To: service your craftsman vs-44808 ratchet

Just some food for thought. Many of you have found ratchets to have no grease. I wonder if thats because there really is no seal in the head to prevent dirt and debris from getting in. I know at work, we have certain bearings and components that get "light oil" rather than grease due to the original part having no seal. Once you put grease in, dirt eventually finds its way in and now you have a dirt paste.

Probably not a big deal if you actually service them with some kind of regularity. Just noticed a lot of people saying they never found any grease in their ratchet.

Ill be trying it on my USA made craftsman. My matco 88 is still pretty smooth, might take that one apart just to take a peek.

Good thread though, thanks for posting.
