Barely got to know him and now he's gone. I feel like I missed out. The rest of you who shared time with him are a lucky bunch!

See you around the corner, Ho Ho.

My thoughts exactly. :thumbup

I'm having Hoho flashbacks, I need to write up all these stories. My heart is heavy today and I imagine will be for quite some time.

One of the wonderful things about this information age we are able to share stories.

OK, I’ll start, with a meager story: Hoho and I were at a bar, and I laughed, alot.

Who next?

Frozenuts, Hoho, and I stuck in the last available room in Eureka. The Liberty Lodge Motel, a real Pay by the hour kind of place. We were charged $129 for that old cinderblock, damp, and soggy room. No idea how many had been conceived in or died in that bed.

Hoho didn’t have his sleep machine, Max and I spooned. We had ice cream at the Bluebird in Holland.

I have not.. a little worried it will be this weekend. :(

Couldn't we just organize our own just in case of scheduling conflicts? :dunno

I'd love to be part of a memorial for the guy I spent so many hours covering lonely asphalt with... :ride

We can of course. Love to show the family how much he was loved though.

From what I hear we will have that shot next weekend.

If some knows where he will rest in peace, we can make a stop there on the memorial ride. I would like to pay my respects.

For Hoho:

You were known by several names: Hoho, Horace, and Horacio. But to me, you’ll always be known as friend. As a word... in and of itself… seems simple. It doesn’t require much effort to say it, so let’s dig a little deeper.

Friend: a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection. And that right there... takes real effort.

I’ll always treasure the friendship we had. The EFFORT you put into it, you reaching out to me, your ability to listen, your patience, your acceptance, your comradery, your support, your gentle guidance, your wisdom, your trust, and most of all your example of how to live a positive life. You weren’t a half full guy; you were a three-quarter full guy. You just seemed to find joy in everything and everywhere. And, I loved that about you. It was a privilege to have shared your journey. … your friendship. And while I will miss you… I know you’re in a better place, that your suffering here is ended, and, my brother in faith, that I will see you again in the next life.

My Prayer for you, my friend:

I pray for the soul of my brother in faith, Hoho, who lived his life as an example of the love, acceptance, and willingness to nurture the soul of another, as you’ve asked of us. I pray that you’ll wrap him in your love. That you’ll protect his soul. I also pray that you provide him with the bike of his choice, twisty clear roads on a bright sunny day, a shady spot to rest… and an ice cream to satisfy his joyful soul. For these things I pray to the lord.

p.s. Hoho, if you find out I gotta bike commin’ too, please keep my tires warm and hit up Buck and Gary to help you get the suspension sorted. I miss you, brother. :rose

I just saw this thread...heard the news...so sad.

Horace's nickname said it all. Hoho had a special gift of friendliness and happiness. He made you feel comfortable right away. A spirit and force for good. A model for living.

He is missed already, and we'll always remember him. :rose

RIP, our friend. Condolences to family and friends.

I'm thinking about Hoho a lot and today I'm thinking how I can't go into a Walmart without Hoho's giggles behind me.

It seems like every road trip rally or whatever Hoho would suddenly remember he forgot shorts.or tee shirts, or flip flops. Always stop and buy the cheapest. I imagine his family going through his things wondering why Hoho has so many pairs of cheap shorts (laughing) inappropriate Tee shirts, and shower sandals.

God, I miss that guy.

Hoho taught me that that yummy mystery sauce for the meatballs was nothing more than Pace picante sauce and grape jelly.
