Man, that really sucks to hear. I have an excavator I could use to help dig out the pipe. I just need a way to transport it over, need a double axle trailer. I'm not licensed or insured so, if anything happens, I wasn't there...

Thanks for the great offer! Now I just gotta figure out how to get it here & someone knowledgeable to operate it. I dug a pool once w/a Bobcat decades ago, but doubting the eyesight would be good enough =likely not be accurate.

The "We Rooter you" folks said gotta be licensed contractor or county won't issue a permit (1 of 2 needed?) Homeowners Insurance already said we ain't covered. 23 years of payments & no claims, & we ain't covered for any kind of "water damage." I said the damn street sank, not my line. "Nope, sorry." Grrr. This is AAA insurance, great.

I still can't figure out why I'm responsible for the damn street? :twofinger

Dave,
We don't know one another, but I feel for you. Life can seem just fine, then one day your world turns into a shitstorm. May I recommend you confer with an attorney regarding your insurer denying your claim. Often such a claim is indeed covered, but adjusters typically need some motivation to acknowledge coverage. Find yourself a decent insurance law attorney and with a no charge consult, at least determine if that housing thing is covered. I've had many situations where my clients' insurance carriers suddenly became very cooperative only after receiving correspondence reminding them of their duties under the policy.

Being in chronic pain drains all your physical and mental energy. It sucks. Is hard. Most people cannot relate. But, it does seem like you have a good group of friends who care and want to help. It is only human to need to lean on a good friend during such times. I do hope things improve for you.

Thanks for that; we're in the process of getting another quote as the $11K seems a bit excessive (more than my 2 cars & 1 bike together!) Going to go over the policy closely...

You know what, I've made more friends & got more help from motorcyclists over the decades than anyone (no family anymore/few friends.) The BARF & ZRXOA have been great over the years. The ZRXOA even did a raffle some years back & got me & family $3.3K. Got me thru that Christmas when the kids were still young.

I can never thank you all enough for all the help. I only hope & pray someday to return the favor; & hopefully ride again someday. The desire is there, but the body & $$$ are not. No worries, you folks have kept the dream alive, & me talking on here/elsewhere still =so I still consider myself an enthusiast- even tho it's been over a year since I last rode.

I thank you all again for everything; especially the encouragement,

EBD google "trigger finger" hope this helps.
Thanks for that, yeah I'm aware of all the causes/symptoms/cures. Kaiser has been doing the steroid/Cortisone shot cure for almost 2 years now. Been for nasty shots ~6 times now. Helps for a month or two, but it keeps coming back. They seem to be avoiding surgery, but at this point I'm pushing for it.

I have 4 fingers effected, the worst of which on the right hand is the ring finger & index finger. The ring finger I have to use the left hand to "unlock" it when it gets locked in position, & force it back to normal position. It's very painful, but I keep using it anyway daily on the keyboard. I'm convinced it's due to extensive computer/keyboard use dating back to 1978'.

Taking time off computer helps, but doesn't cure. I tried several months off several times= some slight improvement, but not enough. The causes indicated are diabetes, gout, & arthritis, & overuse. I have all four. Maybe I should quit the PC? Tried it before & didn't work, I'm pushing for surgery, but Kaiser don't want to do it....

Until then, it's snap, crackle, pop of the fingies I guess? This is the primary reason I haven't been riding. Wrenching, gripping the bar, throttling, & especially braking are very hard when the fingies lock up. I can deal w/all da other things, but controlling the bike is priority. If I can't do it skillfully, I'm inviting a bail or worse. That, a few mechanicals, & the eye troubles (need to see) are the primary things keeping me off the bike at the moment.

waa waaaaaa :cry

been awhile so here's a quick update:

Got another surgery on the right eye next week. Glaucoma issues are blocking the lens, so it's time for another swap out transplant for a plastic lens. Wish me luck.

Hands still in the same boat; "trigger-finger" still bad but holding off on surgery because need $$$ for numerous things. Still can't ride because of this & eye problems. 2 years off moto now....:cry

Got several competitive quotes on the sewer pipe; paid $6K to the winner for plastic pipe all the way to middle of street. Had to take out equity loan to get it done; oh well.

Roof bad; worried about El-Nino' this winter so got a friend up on roof & he re-nailed some & added the blown-off shingles. Still gotta fix the downpipes. Thought about getting up there w/a can & tin snips.

Only running cage broke down. $2.6K & had to take it back several times to fix things claimed fixed but were not. grrr...:mad Going elsewhere next time.

Started bike. Big mistake. Sucked some bad gas in I think & now it runs like sh_t. Guess I will be cleaning carbs after all. What a PITA!

Given up on suspension fixes. Cost too much $$$ to send it out. Going to try & find a new/used set of shocks/forks in good shape. Tender working well, new battery seems still new <shew!>

Found a deal on a new stove. Wifie's been cooking w/convection oven & microwave for 5 years. She's overjoyed w/new stove! :thumbup

After trying to work on bike w/screwed up hand, I was pretty low. About everything. She knew I needed something so she got me a new kitten. Got me smiling big time w/a new friend. Was named "Emma" & answered to that so I didn't re-name her. I soon was having a ball watching her terrorize the house. Neverending energy bouncing off the walls & causing general mayhem. Helped me greatly...

Will update after next weeks eye surgery.

Emma needs a laser pointer... :teeth

Dave, I'm close to ya, let me know if I can help. Suburban's got the bench seat out so I can haul things around a bit, I'm fairly mechanical, etc. :thumbup

Got one of those; the kids play w/Emma w/it. Somehow I feel it's kinda like cruel. I don't know why. I'm also afraid they'd point it in her eye; afraid of damaging eyesight? So I use the old fashioned "mouse" w/a bell & a stretchy rope. Works wonderful....

Thanks for the fine offer but right now in holding pattern until eye surgeries complete. Getting cut next week the 26th; will wear a eye patch for a couple days then we will know result.

I can fix all/knowledgeable, just the non-working fingies & blurry vision, & lack of funds is what's keeping me away from it. I may yell for some help in the near future when I actually start fixing things; until then, it gathers dust in the garage....:(

Thank you for caring!!! :thumbup

Back from the surgery; now I have TWO plastic lenses. The six-million-dollar-man now I guess huh? :laughing

Can't remove the eye patch for several days yet, so not going to hang around for long. Back in earnest when I can see better...

no eyesight? lissen to Manx TT radio coverage:

Thanks! But every time I turn it on everyone's gone to bed. Just music! :laughing

Got the cataract surgery last Wed., had the "Popeye" eye patch until I gave up on it Monday. Still doing 6 eyedrops daily & have another 2 appointments over the next month.

It's so so I guess. Not as big an improvement as the other eye, but at least now they both are done. Hopefully it will get better soon as now my glasses don't work anymo.

Get another eye-test end of month....:thumbup

HI y'all.

Wanted to get on here & thank you for all the kind thoughts/wishes.

I haven't been on because I managed to somehow delete my P/W, account info or something. This morning it magically started working again? huh? :rolleyes

Have been pretty out of it due to lingering BIG pain (whiner), & unable to move around/etc. Docs now make house calls? They got me on the walker & walked the driveway & sidewalk wobbly as hell...getting a feel for the walker, but now it needs mods. Think I'll start w/some green duct tape....:teeth

I can see it's going to be a L O N G comeback tour. Haven't even thought about fixing the bike yet...still under dustcover in garage....(sigh)...

found out yesterday I can go about 100ft. w/the walker. After that I start getting speed wobbles & have to turn back. Physical Therapist says that's better than expected & a "good start"....:thumbup

Will try some more today. Wishing I had some green Kawi stickers to paste up the walker with...:laughing
