Backpacking? Man seeking ????

I'm here in the Central Valley but a coworker of mine referred me to the East Bay Regional Parks so I've been exploring those lately early morning and the trails have been pretty open. It gets packed by the time I get back and I'm heading home :)

All my backpacking gear has migrated to my cycle camping gear, except the big back pack is gone now.
I have spent a week at a time in Lassen & Yosemite high country back in the '70's, different loops solo, some trips with friends.

I figured I'd bring this thread back up from the dead, I'm done with Grad School and now have time on my hands. Anyone still backpacking these days due to COVID? I got lucky and was able to book a trip in March to Catalina Island :)

Let's talk gear!

Lol. A blast from the past. I'm still trying to drag my Wife out on trips. I bought her a 0 degree down bag for Xmas.

I bought myself an Osprey Atmos AG backpack. It was rated #1 in 2019. Hopefully, I will get to use it this year. Both the Wifey and I have been working like crazy. I'm waiting for Henry Coe to open up again.

Coe is open. Buddy of mine was hiking around out there last weekend.

Thank you. I pulled up their map and Only about 10% is open. The good lakes/ponds are all within the 90% that is still closed.
A couple of the decent fishing ponds are accessible, but I bet that they will be crowded.

Someone mentioned East Bay Regional Parks. Are there places to backpack within their system? My Nephew is a fireman there. I have been bugging him to take me to any "secret fishing spots", but he denies knowing of any.
