Any (4-wheel) Overland types in here?

I find it a little hilarious, you ask for input here give what you build for fun!
Do you have enough width, in other words is the camper short enough, to Mount the camper sideways so the rear door is unlikely to be blocked? If you mount a service e bed to the trailer then put the camper in the bed you have some sweet built in storage for little effort.

I can't mount the camper sideways. I have seen people mount pop up tent style trailers sideways, but that still leaves the door on the back. I don't mind having the door face the rear of the trailer, as an awning off the back of the camper makes for a nice porch.

My truck is actually a service bed, which is part of the reason I don't want to run a gooseneck hitch or mount a camper in the bed by itself. I do plan on building storage under the camper, but I think I need to relocate the water storage tanks and batteries under the trailer and behind the axle in order to get the tongue weight down.

If this works out, I may have a sweet overlanding camp trailer for sale, complete with wheel chock for Moto transport.

The next challenge will be going big on the solar system for the new camper.

It's a wrangler. It was.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one. I may trade my hemi grand Heep for one. I'll keep my CRD grand until i decide if these are worth keeping

Just wait until you see what you can do with one. Go anywhere and camp in comfort. :thumbup

The deer thread? Do you remember that? :laughing

I've tried to find it to no avail.

Well..the approach is still good. :p

It'll certainly be a tail dragger. But I can't see that it's any worse than the Tacoma and Colorado in that regard. Even typical full-size trucks are similar.

One "saving grace" though, is how easy it is to throw a pretty big tire under there. IIRC correctly, there's an optional 35" tire available right out of the box. More so then any other brand out there, that tail doesn't worry me at all.

I believe it has better departure angle than Tacoma or Colorado. Breakover angle sucks, though.

Well I made the poor decision and became poor - purchased a 2019 chevy ZR2.

Think I'm going to start an overland build!

Does anyone have advice on rack systems for tents like Tepui etc? I've heard you need to be careful with the weight on them as they have a load weight but also sheer weight?

Or just general advice on starting a build like this - lessons learned from your past "overland"/4 wheel adventures?
