Hello everyone

As you can see in the "subject" I'm a Newbie. Been riding for about a month now and I love it. I'm from Oakland and try to ride as much as possiable but I also just had a baby girl so my time is very limited. Now to the bike... it's an old 91' Ninja zx6d, i got the bike from a friend who gave it to me. It was in bad shape, it was left outside for over a year (oxidation / rust) and was missing parts. So i took it and made it a small project. Everything is running now but i plan on doing a little more on the cosmetic part. Feel free to e-mail me or im me.

also does anyone know what else i can do to the bike

steveco can tell you about the metzeler M1's he's got 'em on his ZX6E. me personally lightened my old 6D with aftermarket exhaust, remove cstand, no tools (I swear could feel the difference :p ). Suspension setup critical - one of the magazines just did a build up using Fox rear components and the Gold Valves up front. Tires, suspension and rider training would give the biggest bang for the buck IMO.

Does yours have the dual flashing low fuel idiot lights that come on way too early? mine did. the 6e's got a real effing fuel gauge!

Max,

kerker full exhaust, no center stand, no inner fairings
what mag. had the article, was it for the zx6d?
yeah it has the dual flasing fuel lights, first time it came on i was tripping b/c i was worried i was gonna run out of gas, so i rushed to a gas station only to find out it was still half full :confused, so now i'm counting the miles so i know when i have to fuel up:teeth

Nice choice of machinery. I've owned four, two D models and two E models.

My E just has an Ohlins shock, 0.95 kg/mm Race Tech springs in the front, and Yosh Zyclone slip-ons. A few riders have commented on the stealthiness of my exhausts, how they sound near stock at low rpms but have a nice note to them once into the powerband. I'm personally find the note of an aftermarket exhaust on an inline four to be a bit more obtrusive than I prefer for street use. The Yosh's are still a touch loud for my taste. But for $100 for the pair, I couldn't pass up on them. That extra bit of audible presence in traffic is reassuring as well.

The Gold Valves will further improve the handling, I'm just too lazy to invest in them. I also like the convenience of having a centerstand far too much to ever consider getting rid of it. For me, STREETbikes have STREET amenities. The centerstand is one of those amenities.

I've always thought of it as a poor man's VFR, I'll be holding onto mine until there's an Aprilia Futura in my driveway. Even then, I'd probably keep it as a commuter.

Have fun,

Mike
