Yea but zoom out, and it basically comes to this.

You have a black dude who showed up to testify at a trial of a white cop who accidentally (but negligently and ignorantly) killed his dear friend, who is himself a thug who was willing to use violence to protect his illegal trade, but who was likely engaged in that illegal trade because of systemic racism that limited his overall economic opportunities.

It's such a circular cluster fuck, it's no wonder black people and white people don't see eye-to-eye in this country. Everyone gets to choose their reality.

Wait? The man that the officer killed was Brown's dear friend? Is this true? I thought they were just down the hall neighbors.

so multiple people took a multi hour cross state drive to buy weed (of all things) from someone who doesn't seem to have any prior drug slanging history and then killed him

An article I read said that Brown stated he’d only met Jean once or twice.

They aren’t in California. Marijuana is still highly illegal and highly profitable in other states, particularly in The South. The article Lazarus posted said that police searched Brown’s apartment and found 12 pounds of marijuana, 149 grams of THC cartridges, and $4,000 cash. That doesn’t include whatever he may have been robbed of at the time of his murder. We can safely assume they weren’t there to buy nickel bags. This was probably a deal worth several thousands of dollars and multiple pounds of marijuana.

Additionally, Alexandria, LA to Dallas, TX is only a 4.5 hour drive. Crooks drive from the Bay Area to Mendocino and Humboldt Counties constantly to buy, steal, or rob large quantities of marijuana. I saw it all the time when I was a cop in Mendocino County.

Forgot to add that literally everyone’s criminal history starts from scratch. No prior criminal history means almost nothing.

Bruh you KNOW you don't believe that. You KNOW it. Biggest indicator of future behavior is prior behavior. Everyone is trained on this like... You can't die in this hill. You know you're just coming off a big W and saying bs right now. Yeah everyone starts somewhere, but usually in their teens.

Yeah, but you know. Given the timing and all that, there will always be some cats who say it was a plant. It just makes the thing smell fishy and some people are determined to see a Sea Monster.

I've arrested probably close to 1,000 people in my career. I think I know what I'm talking about at this point...

Cases are made on evidence, not prior criminal history. In fact, prior criminal history cannot be introduced during a criminal trial unless it's related to the current charge (IE: To be convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm, the prosecutor has to show the jury that the defendant was previously convicted of a felony, duh!). Otherwise, any introduction of prior criminal history is believed to taint the jury and must be excluded.

Additionally, having no prior criminal history doesn't mean that a person has never been arrested or committed a crime. It can mean several things. Think about the acronym "RAP sheet". Record of Arrest and Prosecution.

If a person was arrested for simple battery under 243(a) PC and issued a citation to appear then released from the scene without ever being booked and fingerprinted, that arrest will not appear on a RAP sheet because they were not booked. If the DA does not file charges in the case, then there is no record of any prosecution. Thus, nothing from that incident would appear on the person's RAP sheet.

Or there could be juvenile offenses that would appear through a different criminal history check that is generally not accessed for adult defendants. Juvenile RAPs and adult RAPs are different databases and are not compiled together.

Or..... it can just mean that the person was never caught. Lots of crooks are in State Prison right now having been arrested for the first time.

The bottom line is the argument that Brown had no criminal history doesn't tell the whole story and doesn't mean much of anything.

Dear God do I regret feeding your ego :laughing

Well.... technically I wasn't right anyway. My initial guess was that Brown's murder was related to the previous shooting of which he was a victim, and not a dope rip.

:dunno

Oh, I'm pretty sure that strip club shooting was also drug/gang related. :laughing

It didn't just happen for no reason.

agreed. the whole situation just seems sketch because of the timing and him being a key witness and all that. you would think a drug dealer would kinda lay low when the entire nation had their eyes on them and the case

what do you mean? have you never been shot at outside a strip club? I thought it was normal

Adjust your tinfoil hat. It might be a little too tight. They wouldn’t make a claim about him shooting at the other parties without physical evidence to support that.

Gangster shit.

Adjust your humor. I was calling out their shitty writing.
Grates on my fucking nerves to read crap like that.

My apologies. I thought you were implying the cops were making stuff up to disparage and discredit Brown.
