hey W800! :wave

bummed out I missed you, next time! :ride

Next time! I met some really cool folks there, BTW!

Was also really impressed by how well people were riding too. Was a little nervous riding in a large diverse group. Used to ride with Harley folks, and it's very "military" for want of a better term - so always felt safe. Also used to ride with Buell folks, and that was basically anarchy, but the riders were pretty skilled.

But this was nice - good pace near the front and people were being fairly predictable.

PS - I was wondering about that handle on the Vincent too. It's for the center-stand!!

We watched him use it, and that solved the mystery for us.

glad you met some good people and had a good experience with the riders ... :gsxrgrl

ha, thanks for that info ... now I can notice the linkages to the handle and centerstand. never would've figured it out, was too sidetracked on the rear break and kickstarter ... :laughing

Dude. Next year. We can trailer our bikes there behind my 914.

be fun to see the 914 at one of these events, towing bikes ... :thumbup

the guy who's been one of the people for so many years putting on the Moto Melee here in CA for vintage bikes 1970 and older--SFMC member Harley W.--also puts on the California Melee for vintage cars (pre-1976) ... bet that low-bucks rally would be a blast in a 914!

Yes, the Vincent also had some subtle turn signals and a very discreet digital temp gauge. I was blessed to be parked next to the Nimbus and got to hear it start up. Sounded a little like a V-8. Was really cool!!!

Old school still cool

Thanks for sharing, guys! :thumbup Looks like a really fun event, historically speaking.

I'd like to join you, but currently I don't have an old bike. Only the rider is vintage. :afm199

Great pics John!

Was out of town, but maybe next year on one of my pre-vintage bikes... or is it post-vintage? hmm...

GPzPop joining the fray on his 126,000 mile Kawasaki "commuter" ... :afm199

Actually my ZZR600 is just shy of 170K at this time, ha ha

I think the best part was when our group ride of around 100 or so bikes, stretching over 1/8 mile plus, passed in the opposite direction a group ride made up of Harleys who were in about equal quantity to us.

I think they were a bit surprised , also !

They were in much more "military" formation, though

Thanks for posting the invite in Vintage Cafe, and good to see you and Cary, and all my other new BARF friends!

wow, that's crazy miles! god bless Kawasaki ... :hail:laughing

glad to have seen you, and that we demonstrated to the H-D crew that there's more than one way to have fun and get the job done ... :gsxrgrl
see you again, soon! :ride

pre or post vintage ... there's a philosophical question for us. :toothless

Shortly after that, was when the rider behind me, notified me of my leaking bike.

I didn't realize there were so many BARFers in attendance on Sunday! It was nice to meet you (again), Simon. I wish there were more vintage bike meetups. These one day events bring out all sorts of cool bikes. If you're on Instagram, I posted a few photos and a video there. I'm 1965_dreamer

The only social media I'm on is these motorcycle forums and LinkedIn.

If your Instagram is open to public view, could you post the link so I can see them? Thanks

Which bike did you ride? Sorry I missed this one but dirt biking weekend was planned before I knew about this one.

I got the parts I needed to finish my exhaust so I’ll have the aermacchi ready to go soon!

Thanks for all the pics that have been posted!

Hi Daniel!

I owe you an email.... I had the Aermacchi in the driveway, but it wouldn't start - even though I had just ridden it on Saturday. It seems like there's a charging issue which we're now trying to get sorted.

I rode my 1967 Honda CB77. It's the bike I tried to ride last year. It started blowing smoke out of the exhaust on the way up, so I turned around. That bike has been a bit finicky, but it finally seems to be sorted and running strong.
