So, I love watching vids of people making things or doing very meticulous things. Please post your favorites here so that I can watch them too. I'll start. My collection is fairly eclectic.

This first one is a jeweler in Spain who made a REALLY nice ring from two brass nuts. It totally makes me want to try making jewelry.

This next one is a fascinating old Chinese guy who built a bridge in his back yard. It makes me want to do some carpentry. It makes me feel that he has forgotten more than I will ever learn about building stuff.

I also really enjoyed this video I got to feature recently by Xyla Foxlin on how to build a canoe. I've never wanted to build a wooden canoe, nor ever thought I could, but this video breaks down the process into something that I could imagine being able to tackle.

I've also really been enjoying Adam Savage's one day builds. They're a lot longer, but not only is he just fun to watch and listen to, but he's really fantastic at externalizing anxiety, self doubt and imposter syndrome that comes with building stuff and working creatively. That really helps me a lot.

Have you seen what they're charging for YouTube premium? :wtf

It's not about the money or advertising. It's the formula that every single content creator has to use to get their videos monetized by YouTube. It's a problem that YouTube created and it's infuriating enough that I barely watch YouTube content, even if it's something interesting.

Yeah, and the worst part is that the algorithm is really only good at selecting for a small handful of folks who end up 'making it'

Every single one of these videos has probably 20-50 hours of labor put into it, so I really can't fault anyone doing what they can to make a buck off of it. It's lame, but struggle through it for the awesome videos.

Ok enough kvetch about ad models, time for more videos. This recco is especially for you Abacinator. It's the most metal of any of these build videos I've ever seen.
