Your favorite lap timer

Ok.. need to buy a new lap timer for the F4i to see just how slow I am running on the track. For those of you who own or have used them, what is your favorite and how much did you pay for it.

Dont tell me Steveco... cuz we all know his ass went for 94 cents during the last auction. :D

MyChron is glitchy sometimes. Get the Db or the Stack. I am thinking of the Magneti Marelli MT300 Programmable Dashboard from the 748RS racebike and SBK ducs. That one is killer!

How do the stack or Db run? Do I need to be in the Italian tax bracket, or can a crack head like me afford it? Any suggestions for a simple cost effective track timer?

The best bet for discount East Bay shoppers is to count your laps in each 30 minute session. Divide the number of laps into 30 to determine your average. Here's an example:

30 min / 5 laps = 6:00 laps (average) <--- not bad for a crack-head

I offer math tutoring on the side, if you're interested. :twofinger

...but on a more serious note:

How do these devices work? Mount on dash and put a thumbswitch on the clip-on?

Eat me bubble boy!

:twofinger I guess I had it coming Stevo

The timers are signal triggered as you pass a point on the track. Thinking about just getting a simple cheap digi stop watch for thunderhill. Promised myself I wouldnt buy anymore toys until I finish paying the bike off, only a few more months.

The cheapest I have found was in the 2 bill range. A little steep and I need to buy a new pipe and tires this month.

Just get the MyChron. It is not that bad but depending on the becon it might not read the times. My friend and I were going at it and he was on his way to hitting a 2:05 when the thing didnt work. I think the MyChron is about 8 out of ten runs. Dont know if anyone has every gotten 10 for 10 from it. Cheap though!

The Stack my girlfriend has is about $1100 for everything and the Marelli is about $1500-1800 but both of these have tach, temp, voltage, timer, shift light and someother things.

You could just have SteveCo stand there all day and take notes! That is what I will use him for next trackday!:D
