certainly no disrespect intended, but I remember reading a thread where someone said that BMW car drivers seem more likley to pull some asshat cager maneuver, than a cage driver in another type of car.

when I ride, it seems it's ALWAYS a beemer that cuts me off, tailgates, trys to squeeze when you split, changes lanes into yours QUICKLY, and with no signal, etc,....

so I was wondering if any of US own a BMW car (obviously if you ride a bike, you wouldn't drive like that when motorcycles are present, in traffic around you)

dumb poll, I know....

No I, but my dad rides and has a bmw. I do know what you mean though, it seems to be the people in the 3 and 5 series that dont even look and just get over or just drive like idiots in general.

I own two BMW's:

1988 BMW 535i, black on black, 5 speed, 75k miles :love
1986 BMW 528e, burgundrot and tan, 5 speed, 90k :love

Both are mint, original one-owner cars :love

I don't drive like an asshole but you're right, a lot of BMW cagers drive like idiots. It's a weird phenomena.

Especially the 3 Series and M3 owners. There are way too many morons owning M3's these days.

Can you imagine suburban housewives riding R1's all over the place?

It does seem that a high percentage of bmw 3 series drivers need driving lessons. Jetta drivers (bmw wannabes?) don't seem to be far behind. Both gross generalizations of course. :teeth

Excuse me, BMW cages are called "BIMMERS" and BMW bikes are called "BEEMERS". Thank you :twofinger

(And yes, I own 2 of them)

2004 RC51:kicknuts

No I do not drive like and ass I'm very curtious to a rider when I see one and I'm driving any of my cars. I even give them the BARF sulute and they're like WTF!:wow
but I also find other BMW drivers that are total assholes behing the wheel most (no dierespect indented) asian drivers they got to be the worst and to top off that they act like you're not even on the road they just almost killed you and they're the one's that get offended:mad

I love my chino's but come on! no driving manners or skills.:teeth

I was about to mention the Bimmer v. Beamer thing.

I'm probably going to get a '89-91 325is as my next ride. It seems like many BMW drivers are teh suck, but not as much as people who drive bad American sedans (Taurus, Crown Vic, etc.).

Anyone that doesn't have the wisdom to buy a car that doesn't totally suck isn't likely to be a good driver.

I have an ancient, very used 1990 525i and I still love it. (Even after 228,000 miles, its tighter than my significantly newer truck.)
I don't think I drive like more of an asshat when I'm in it versus my truck, but maybe there's also a perception/reputation that BMWs already have that colors people's take on things. If you're expecting the asswipe in the Bimmer to do something stupid, you watch him/her long enough and they'll do SOMETHING to confirm it.

That's a nice choice, but you only want the engine? Or do mean you want the e30 M3 with the S14 engine? If I could, I would definately buy that car but they just seem to go for way too much nowadays.

And ronbo is right, they have a bad reputation. I see BMW drivers act a fool just as much as any other driver out there. I think the stereotype of BMW drivers is way old, and many just won't let go of it.

tran_man...thanks for the clarification..I should have quoted the car's full name....I have just been calling it by the engine name for so long....I too agree that they are gaining in popularity and the prices are rising accordingly.

Have a 89 BMW 325is 5-speed and love it, about 160,000 miles and never really had anything go bad on me, but wish I could get the 88-91 M3...

From what I noticed to, the people with newer 3-5 series drive like shit, and almost everytime I see someone drive like this, 90% of the time their on the cell phone -_-
