You can't kill the KLR650

Here's a cool PDF that shows you all the KLR650 colors over the years
http://watt-man.com/uploads/KLR_Timeline.pdf
Interesting all of the different colors that the KLR has come in. Honda has been mostly red with some white and some blue accents, but that's it. No Barbie colors, no camo, and never a choice of color for a given year. You have to buy aftermarket plastic if you want to change the color scheme.

Currently working on my first KLR650, impressed so far. Very easy to work on, kinda fun?

Lot's of setup options..

This one wasn't mine.

Long live the KLR

Relax...
I remember someone posting this on Reddit:

KLR650 does three things well:

1. Go slow
2. Burn oil
3. Fall over

But it does all three things forever.

Not my quote but I love it.

My KLR650 when I first bought it, plastics so clean still :) The 2nd bike I own that I have ridden the most after the DR650 is the KLR650! FACT my KLR650 has more miles than my DR650! It has never taken a dirtnap, it was layed down when a red light runner grazed my front wheel.

The busted Doohickey, still vibrates like crazy after replacing found out the counterbalancer chain had slipped and went out of time with the Doo broke. Retimed it later and it runs as smoother than my DR650!

Looking for that secret dirt road into Yosemite National Park via Chowchilla Mountain Road, the KLR had some trouble climbing these hills, had to slip the clutch a bit, the gearing on my KLR is best suited for carving up the paved roads.

Thanks for sharing all of these! As a KLR rider, brought a smile to my face. Here's my addition from a few years ago in a Carrizo Plain Mudhole:

Speaking of 2nd gen KLRs I rode with someone that just got out of the Army from Fort Bragg that I met on the TAT. I think the perfect bike for doing the TAT is a KLR650. It's just the right size to get the job done. The rider told me that for this model year of KLR650 they beefed up the suspension a bit. I'm acutally a bit jealous of him. We split ways in Colorado when I wanted to go to Pikes Peak. I actually got home before he did. But I never finished the TAT I stopped when I got to Idaho. He picked it back up and rode it all the way to Oregon. Ahhh memories :) We were like a duo haha Black KLR White DR!

Also I met this couple in Colorado that were riding on a pair of KLR650s. They weren't riding the TAT just the trail I was riding at the time.

Yes it is one of the TAT stops. There are places that kind folks allow TATers to stay at their place to rest and work on their bikes. This was actually the nicest of these places. There was a kitchen, living room, laundry room, motorcycle tools, showers, etc... You just go in sign the guestbook and leave a donation. The owners love to meet all the folks that stop by also :)

It's the 10G IMS tank with internal vacuum operated mikuni carb. I like it a lot! I rarely fill it up all the way, usually just as much as my friends full tank. But it sure was nice in Baja when I could fill it all up and not worry about running out between stations.
