Word is that the FZ-07 is going to be unveiled on the 5th of June as officially for sale in the USA. There are other rumors that the FZ-09 might be getting new options as well (ABS plz).

Im digging that Fz-07 man, I like the looks. 397 lbs wet, 75hp,56mpg and only $6700 sounds good! I like those numbers

Yamaha thank you. People, I think we are getting some great bikes here, look at recent Honda and Yamaha line up.
Can we have a motard/adventure version of this ?

Adverse Selection
The stuff I've read about the MT-07 raves! A long travel version would really rock. It's so cool that Yamaha has remembered how to make motorcycles. Now, if Honda would.....

no adjustable suspension or usdf, but racetech will have a fix-looks like a lot of fun.

I would get this over the Fz-09 and use the extra money for some suspension. I am sure with those power and weight numbers it has plenty of power for the street.

Now I'm reading some more speculation around the net that, since we already know the FZ-07 exists and is headed to the US (it was submitted to and passed CARB testing etc.) that this may actually be the reveal of a new model. Possibly a sport-touring or adventure bike using the FZ-09's triple engine. FJ-09. We'll see.

I do really like the looks of all of these bikes, I hope there will be R models available with ABS and better suspension.

Yes, I miss Honda too.

But with each new Yamaha released lately, I seem to miss them less.

The writing is on the wall...I'm going to see something gaining ground on me, in my mirrors.

Pretty cool, I can dig it. :thumbup

Hope Americans have wised up enough to buy the bikes...Yamaha is gambling that we have...But we have to prove it.

add a Penske shock and a Racetech kit for the forks... $6,700 turns into $9K pretty fast

Great bike and great price point. Also, very glad to see Japanese manufacturers not just stuffing detuned i4s into everything.

Either way suits someone...The city rider that doesn't do much, has what they want,...And the attack the back roads, rider that puts suspension to work, has what they want.

I find all the pitfalls people speak of in regards to suspension, unimportant. If you truly want a bike to run well, you'll need to do suspension work.

An affordable starting point is key.

If I bought a new S3 at 11-12k OTD, I'd still need to spend $1,000+ on suspension. Instead, I bought a used one for half the cost and will upgrade the suspension.

That said, the FZ7 looks a little chunkier in the front then the FZ9. Not sure I like it as much, but I'll have to wait to see some other photos and one in person. Regardless, it seems like a great bike and had I not just bought the S3, I'd be considering this bike.

Then again. For many stock suspension it's fine for transportation duties. As a pure a to b bike it's fine. Really.

Problem is the 3.6 gallon tank size.

Pass.

After living with my Versys for the last year or so, I don't know if I can go back to a bike with a sub 5 gallon tank... 4.5 would even be pushing it.

Claimed fuel economy is 56 mpg, which would give the FZ-07 a theoretical range of almost 210 miles from its 3.7-gallon gas tank.

My F800ST is also a parallel twin and has never once dropped below 50mpg so I think their 56 mpg number is a reasonable one for the FZ-07.

If I go by Motorcycle Consumer News the parallel twin on your bike gets around 46mpg while they got 55mpg on their F800ST.

Near 200 mile range for a bike is pretty darned good IMHO.
