WTF happened to posting a bike on Craigslist?!

drizz

it's monkey madness!
Where the hell did the CL nazi's come from? I posted a normal, legit ad and it got flagged and removed... twice! Same shit happened when I sold my last bike.

Yes, it's a rant. F**k you craigslist.

haters man haters... we deal with a lot of that at work. we post all our inventory which is about 20-30 cars and by the end of the day about 30% of it is flagged..

just be on top it, keep reposting it.
and sometimes people get pissy about keywords and flag.. or competition
good luck.

What did your ad read? BARF will tell you where you went wrong. :teeth

You didn't go nuts with Keywords, did you?

If you keyword whore, you should be raped by a cross-eyed dingo till you're a decent human being again. :)

I snagged a copy of it:

"Kickstand for '83 Husqvarna 450. Great shape! $3.00 obo.
Kawasaki, Honda, BMW, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph, Ducati, Prius, AlpineStars, Harley, XBOX 360, Nilla Wafers"

Check the e-mail sent. It'll say what part of the ad is flagged.

I put the word 'Keywords' followed with some descriptive keywords. The ad was flagged because of the word 'Keywords'

Another time using BMW when referring to a color. BMW Oxford Green. The ad was flagged because using 'BMW' in the Ad.

It's getting flagged by automation, not by nazis. It's a weird set of rules why some words get flagged. The BMW flagging was interesting. Assume BMW sellers didn't want a cluttered search result straight out of all items for sale. Which is very snooty. Put FORD in an ad while selling a typewriter it won't get flagged. But put BMW in it, it gets flagged.

I've never had anything flagged on CL. maybe try to stop using "keywords" that aren't important to the item. Simple.......

This exact same thing happened to me selling a bike a month ago. I don't even use keywords in the ads, there was nothing violating ToS, etc. I think that what happens is that your post hits the main feed in the middle of about 10 "2006 Gixxer, PERFECT CONDITION, $2800.00" posts and accidentally gets flaged by the people trying to flag the really annoying scam crap.

I've heard that your flag threshold goes down after getting a post flagged down, but I dont' know if it's really true. I used a different computer and a different email address and the third post wasn't flagged. Go figure.

You guys make sure and hit the checkbox for sold by DEALER, right?

I've always disliked the fact that businesses like yours post ads there-if I wanted to buy from a dealer I'd go to a dealership. It's supposed to be for the people. Normal people selling stuff, like ebay before it went all business, too. :thumbdown

I've never flagged an ad, but I imagine it only takes one person to call a friend and have any ad pulled...

I've had many ads flagged and have never used keywords! I've always described what I had and whether it was new or used, and stuff still gets randomly flagged. It's a wierd system!
