Saw this bike on craigslist. It's a 2005 cbr f4i for $3500

This is a really nice bike with 7623 miles on it. I put it in my garage over 2 years ago and it was running great. After winter, I went to start it up and it wouldn't start. I took the seat off and found a mouse nest under the seat. I cleaned it all up and it still won't start. It turns over but just won't run. I don't have the time to figure it out. Checked all the fuses and they are fine. It also has a rebuilt title. It ran great in December of 2006. If you know bikes, this could be a steal for you. I'm not going to budge on this price, so please don't low ball me. But, I'd be interested in trading for a small fishing boat or a quad of equal value or two older quads.425-308-6057.

I probably won't do it for $3500. Maybe $3000. Any idea what could be wrong with it?

Would I? No. I don't know electrical good enough.
Should you? Depends on how good you know electrical LOL.

I'd say keep your eyes open. There are lots of running bikes in that price range. Look into an 02/03/04 F4i. They are very similar and there are lots of them.

Got money or time to fix it? Honestly I won't buy a bike that won't go. It could be a blown engine. Should you really even trust somebody who wants to get rid of it because it won't run?

+1, why spend $3000 on a bike that doesn't run when you can buy one that works for that price?

id go way cheaper, it doesnt run and its a rebuilt title. thats two major dings against the value of the bike. plus you truly cant tell if there is something wrong internal till it fires. spun bearings dont always tick until they fire up. id be leary myself

reckon

mice and rats LOVE to chew through plastic wiring insulation to get to the metal WIRE underneath which they need to chew on,....if they don't constantly chew to keep the front tooth growth down, it will grow right through their heads, so they are ALWAYS chewing,..ALWAYS.

in other words there is a very good chance that the "mouse nest" has done something horrid to the wiring harness.

I wouldn't buy it JUST based on the rodent information.

Above all I like to play.
I might consider spending 50% of the 'running' BB value and I wanted *that bike*. It's not running and there are expected wiring problems. I'd expect to have to replace the entire harness, but that would be fun for me.

The real problems though are 1) it sat for two years and I don't know it was properly stored and 2) nobody really knows what's wrong yet. It could be a steal, but it could also be a boat anchor and there's no good way of knowing without diagnosing it in person.

2000 is the absolute most I would pay and I would have to know exactly what the problem is before I bought it. Non-running, salvage bikes are not in the 3,500 range.

(Kind of a smart ass)
I was initially thinking well yeah its been in there for two years, the battery must be dead. I'd say if he's local go over and put a battery in it and see what happens. Or ask him if there is VISABLE damage to the wiring? Atleast thats a start.
