World War 3?

SKRRRRRRRRRRRT!!!!!!
Curious if anyone has been paying attention to the world lately. I feel like the pieces are falling into place for a possible WW3 scenario. There is so much Flexing going on right now with Russia moving bombers to Venezuela and attempting re-activating its military bases in cuba. China building islands and military bases in the china sea trying to claim the entire china sea as its own national waters. They also just rolled out their new ship mounted rail gun out to sea. I dunno maybe I got my tin foil hat on but just wondering what your thoughts are?

Not as fast as I look.
That's why I don't watch TV. No problems.
:rofl :thumbup
After a day of watching news, I am not a better person. I tend to be screaming profanities at the 60" and flipping off every politician that pops their head into my view. Not pleasant. It usually takes Jeopardy, a couple of Simpsons reruns, and a bottle of wine to get me settled down, again. And I still might need an aperitif before bed. :(

WWII didn't even involve more than a handful of countries

World War II (1939–1945) Axis powers (Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria) versus Allies (U.S., Britain, France, USSR, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, Yugoslavia).

Yeah, only the USA has been behaving like an angel, totally not fighting random wars in countries most people don't even know about. No flexing here.. :rolleyes

That said, don't think WW3 is likely any time soon.

If we’re talking about the extent of the conflict, not just the major combatants, battles and occupations occurred in New Guinea, Malaya, India, Crete, Finland, Norway, numerous inhabited Pacific Islands, the Philippines, Malta, the entire span of North Africa from Egypt to Morocco, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Albania, pretty much every ocean, and no doubt places I don’t recall or never knew.

Many other countries who weren’t combatants, occupied, invaded or otherwise attacked were otherwise politically and economically straining to appease one side or the other or struggling to remain neutral.

Wha'ts the point of a war? Territory yes but the goal is political control of that area. Economics is a close second. The major powers aren't using bombs or bullets against each other anymore. It's all about international trade, influence, tariffs, information, and MONEY.

Not a chance.

You realize that Russia, with 200MM people, and isolated geographically to boot, has the same GDP as Italy, right?

China is another problem, but their economy is starting to have serious problems. All we have to do is threaten to re-arm Japan, and all their nonsense will come to naught.

WWI was the great war, why was it retroactively called WWI? I mean, did Peru take part? Brazil? Uzbekistan?

Yes some of these were belligerents in the war. Remember that all the major powers in Europe had colonies around the world. There was combat (or the possibility) of some sort almost everywhere.

Lot of Asia and Africa were also involved because they were colonies.
