Large global company. CEO put out an all hands global broadcast telling everyone the C-suite isn't even remotely considering the exploration of layoffs for at least the next 2 months, family first, take care of yourselves, cut people some slack if kids interrupt meetings and they have to step away in the middle of something, etc. Said if anyone gives you any crap for having to be a parent or spouse report it up the chain higher.

My wife has a number of folks reporting to her during this WFH period. In her meetings, she encourages youngster participation by giving them jobs to do. When good news is released, the pots and pans, trumpet, or wild flailing arms come out for celebration. Some get to man the clock to keep meeting pace. Others are tasked with creating a new logo for this WFH team.

Her hope is to relieve parents of a little stress trying to contain kids from causing interruptions by including and engaging them when appropriate. Kudos to your organization for recognizing the need for flexibility. For others, spread this idea around if you're able.

Ford's executives are taking a 20-50% pay cut for a few months, and Mr Ford himself is foregoing his entirely.

They are now close to the top of the list of new cars I may purchase.

I'm a business systems and database administrator for a private school in SF with 1200 students and 250 faculty/staff. Was a scramble getting things in place for faculty to work remotely on the 10th and begin online classes on the 12th. (Haven't checked, but Zoom stock must be doing OK as that's what most private schools are using.) We were fortunate in that students have been issued iPads or laptops for several years and already doing some things online.

Everyone in the organization is still working. A few, like facilities, are onsite and the rest of us remotely. The corporate line was that this would be for "three weeks", but I won't be at all surprised to finish out the year remotely. Thankful to be in the job I'm in, not missing the 2hr commute, and planning to retire in July.

Stay safe, folks.

My team hasn't really been affected, other than not being in the office and having access to huge office grade printers/copiers. Working from only really reduces productivity for me personally because of easy distractions but that's on me. :dunno.

Main project is slowing down but that was going to happen regardless. It'll be filled in by other projects in the queue.

I'm salary and my utilization rate is still higher than most so there's no worry for me at the moment.

All things considered I think my company has been handling everything very well. Being very proactive about development of directives and all the moving pieces, not just sending us the same CDC information many of us are reading anyway.

Hell, all the upper brass, including direct supervisors and bosses have taken a 20% pay cut for now. Even that seemed proactive, not reactive. We got work from home directive before it was passed down by the government.

So yeah, not really worried. No doomsday on the foreseeable horizon for now.

Your wife rocks. I'll bet some of those kids really look forward to mom or dad's meeting.

That's good to hear from Ford. New Bronco is coming out soon and it was already on my list. :thumbup

This has been our life. We don't have employees but our subcontractors are suffering. How long do you hang onto a money hemorraging nut before you make the call?

Electrician for a small shop.
The buildings where they had projects have closed until at least 4/7.
Long time smoker (quit since Sept), minor heart murmur.
BM has hypertension which is of course worse than normal RN.
Burnt up nest egg staying home with kiddo who kept getting sick early.
Between covering rent/bills and medical out of pocket, we can probably get by off work through May-ish.
Might just bug out and subsist on squirrels and stuff if we can't adequately reduce exposure risks soon.
Medical supply shortages carry over to jobsite shortages.

They were also the only one of the big 3 to refuse a bailout after 2008.

Hmmm. This information makes me appreciate this company. Might have to consider that for the next purchase.

3 months or so for me. After that it is crisis mode and I will have to go places I don't want to go.

This is why I answered the poll the way I did. We were planning on retiring in 2 years but it may get stepped up.

I believe the president of Ford even testified in front of congress to get the other 2 their bailout. If they went down then it would cause ruin among their shared supply chains

"Work schedules and compensation may be temporarily reduced for people whose jobs can’t be done effectively away from Ford facilities. Others might be offered chances to take voluntary sabbaticals.....The sabbaticals would last up to three months at 25% pay, confirmed company spokesman Ian Thibodeau.

Whoa. I think if my company offered a 3 month vacation with 25% pay right now I would be the first to volunteer.

I would if the world wasn't shut down right now or if I had a place to go, but right now I might as well stay in my garage and work. :dunno

Shit, the city I work for sent all non-essential employees home. Part timers get laid off after this pay cycle, but full timers are to work from home. However, if they can't work from home, they basically get paid to stay home and do nothing. They have to be available to be called out, if needed, but that's it. Paid 100% to be off work. At least for now.

Going in to the office today expecting to get a County telephone because starting Monday we will all be working from home. We need to maintain a log regarding our activities and another log to track how much time we are spending at work directly related to the covid. Something about FEMA funds.......
