Info about the Women's Center

I've been called back to corun the Womens Center this year, and I'll be traveling to every show between November '10 and March '11. I'm calling on all Barfettes to come and help me represent the diverse group of female motorcyclists in the Bay Area! Sportbikes/Dual Sports, it's time represent!

This is a great volunteering opportunity to meet other local female riders and women's riding groups. Our job is to represent ourselves, share our riding experiences and help spread the word about all aspects of motorcycling! Our We're providing a comfortable, open environment for any woman (or man!) to walk in and get information. We won't be selling anything or making money, simply talking to anyone who comes into the center about all things motorcycle related: training, education, gear, seminars (adv cornering skills, moto travel, offroading/dual sporting, gear and more!).

Of course, there will be a gear display for women to try on everything, without the pressure to buy any of it. None of it can be sold in the booth, it's just there for us to demonstrate to women how gear should fit, why we need it and how to shop for it (which is what I'll mainly be doing). So if you would like to learn more about gear, this is a great opportunity for that as well.

Keep in mind that it doesn't matter how much riding experience you have, all that matters is that you love to Ride. :)

If you're interested, here's how to get started:

1. Go to: www.motorcycleshows.com to find the schedule for all shows.
2. Click on the show in the schedule for which you would like to volunteer. This will let you know the days, dates, hours and location for each show.
3. Most shows offer free parking if you arrive on a motorcycle.
4. Volunteers contribute three hours of their time to get into the show for free.
5. Send an email to me (joanne@gearchic.com) and Sue Slate (wmfginsue@aol.com) and let us know that you're interested in volunteering at San Mateo. (We're looking for volunteers in every city, so if you know anyone else who's interested, please let us know!)
6. Unfortunately, we cannot get your guest in for free. :(

I hope to see as many Barfettes there! Feel free to post any questions or concerns you might have.
:party

PS - Guys
-I also heard that they're going to have a similar men's gear display at the show as well, possibly in the Marketplace!
-As an incentive for you to bring your hunnies to the show, use GEARCHIC on the IMS website when buying your tickets and you'll get $4 off admission. :D

I don't have time to help out, but will definitely start getting the word out there that you're looking for help and about the show in general. :thumbup
