Winter is coming...

Well, it's here.

I have about 5-6 seasons of riding straight through the winter here, and needless to say my gear is wearing out. I have some held gloves that have held up pretty damn well but this year they are leaking quite a bit. I've already replaced my boots with some dainese waterproof boots, and the aerostich needs a waterproofing.

I was wondering if any year round commuters here have any solid recommendations for waterproof gloves. I've been looking at these two models from held, but I am open to trying other brands:

1. Held Air n Dry:

2.Held Warm n Dry: http://www.motorcyclegear.com/stree...rproof/held/warm_n_dry_motorcycle_gloves.html

Thanks in advance for any recommendations and I hope this thread will benefit others as well. :thumbup

go for the non-leather waterproof gloves. once the leather is soaked, it radiates cold all over your hands and well.. makes your hands cold. i have a pair of held waterproof gloves that have held up for years... goof stuff

This isnt much of a winter so far, but i prefer to fet ny gear in order before the heavy stuff hits. We don't even get very heavy stuff here, but when i ride up to tahoe (roads permitting) it will be cold.

I just copy Nemo and use dishwasher gloves over my Helds. $3.00 they don't leak and they increase my visibility.

I made myself some Aerostitch styte 'Triple Digit' raincovers, and wear my normal Helimot gloves underneath. Heated grips keep me warm, and the covers keep me dry. I've also got some old so-so waterproof A* gloves as backup.

Also recently made myself a heated jacket. It IS the shit. Not sure why I didn't do this a long, long time ago.

I own the Air and Dry. Really nice gloves but for cold weather forget about them. I even bought the held glove liners and my fingers still get numb on my 20 min non-freeway ride to work. I am about to go buy a pair of 20$ bilt gloves to get me through the winter.

This was my main concern with the Air n Dry. They look like great gloves but not so warm. On the other hand, a warm glove with poor waterproofing will be cold anyways the moment water starts leaking through. I want a glove that will last a reasonable amount of time, with a solid gor tex liner that would start leaking within a couple of seasons. If I have to supplement with glove liners in extreme cold, I wouldn't be too upset. Heated grips may be a solution for that as well.

I picked up a pair of Held Gore-Tex gloves from Roadrider for about $180.

They are pretty bulky but do keep my hands warm. Haven't had a chance to see how water proof they are yet, though.

I think that's easier for women than for men. I haven't found that sort of glove that will fit over my riding gloves.

I bought lobster-claw XL/L glove covers, and not only do they leak, but they don't really fit over my XL Racer Multitop gloves. Even if it worked, I don't like riding in lobster-claw gloves, but it is warmer.

My hands haven't yet gotten wet through Warm n Safe Ultimate Touring gloves. They're also warm and have a handy wiper for your face-shield.
