Taze away, Yana...
I can’t believe this is the fourth year of the free n00b days! For those of you that don’t know; Z2 gives all its season pass holders two free track days every year that can only be given to a rider that has never ridden the track before. Three of us started having a fun filled track events with our passes in 2014. Bassem, Michael 'Buford' and myself with the generosity of ZoomZoom trackdays (David 'dbenj') offer a completely free* trackday for riders who have never been to the track.

We did two n00b days ( two one) last year and one each the prior years
2017
2015
2014

We're doing this on the 14th of July at Thunderhill raceway on the East track.link. We will be selecting 6 new-to-the-track riders.

Here is what you get if you win:

1) One full track day with z2 at Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday July 14th.

2) We'll provide the pit setup. We will have food (something smoked and super tasty), drinks, shade, tools, chairs, funny friends, and a willingness to talk you through some of the issues that arise during your day. Your family members are also welcome to come support you.

3) You will have one-on-one instruction from the amazing Z2 staff while you are on track. I'm looking at you KazMan (BARF's very own)

4) You will have 30 minute classes all day after your C group session with one of the greatest little teachers out there, KazMan. He will teach you sight lines, turn-in points, breaking markers, answer all your silly questions with a smile, teach you riding position, and become one of the best mentors one could ask for at the track.

5) You will find a new power, and comfort in riding on the street, and on the track that you never knew existed. You will also learn where you are weak, and need improvement. To me this is one of the greatest powers a rider can have.

What you will need in order to qualify to win this pass:

1) A very good understanding of how to operate your motorcycle. This is not an MSC, this is a track day.

2) You have a motorcycle that can pass z2's tech requirements. Requirements here

3) You have all of the necessary safety gear.** Requirements here.

4) You can never have attended a track day. You must be a complete track day n00b. You can never have ridden the track. The only exception to this rule would be an attendee of Road Rider 2.0 because sight laps at lunch do not qualify as attending a track day.

5) You must be able to get all of your gear, and bike to Thunderhill on Saturday the 14th of July. (we might be able to work out a shared transport).

If you fit all these requirements, and you have always wanted to attend a track day, but never pulled the trigger, please tell us why you should win in 250 words or less in the comments below (totally kidding... a little blurb would be awesome). All qualified applicants will be drawn from a hat for fairness.

Hopefully the winners from the last few n00b days can join us as well for a bit of a reunion because that’s one of my favorite parts!

You have until June 15th to enter so everyone Plenty of time to prep bikes and gear. Tell your friends, share this post on FB, get your buddies to the track!

* You will need to pay for transportation to the track, and fuel for your bike.
** we all have some extra equipment should you find yourself lacking in something.

Let the games begin!!!!

Everyone is welcome in our pit. After your first track day you should totally come hang with us. I guarantee you'll learn a ton from all of us. It's not every day you get to share a pit with AFM racers like Mike and Bassem willing to guide your ride with a BBQ lunch on top of it.

As a former free track day noob who can't make it this year, I can offer up gear if someone is in need.

I have one piece leather suit, back protector, and boots. Should fit someone ~5'9" 175 lbs or a bit taller, boots are size 43, suit is a 44.

As a former lucky n00b day participant - I highly recommend anyone considering this to throw their name in the hat.

I couldn't imagine a better way to get introduced to riding at the track - you're with a group of like-minded n00bs going through the same thing, and you've got Jeremy and Bassem who are seriously awesome mentors.

I'll do my best to be there to join you guys, as the n00b day has been the most fun track day of the year for me the last two years.

Thanks again to jeremey, bassem, and all those who donate tickets - you guys rock.

Super Noob
I'd like a chance please. Winning this would be the perfect excuse to finally clad my glutes in leather. They deserve it, I don't skip leg day. Plus getting to go fast in a safer environment ain't bad either...

I'll add you to the list.

Bpw, sorry you can't make it. Thanks for the gear offer!

Gokes, I hope to see you there. Sounds like Tyler Jane should make this event. She said something about a new R6... im going to have to bring my Triumph if I'm going to keep up with that girl.

TWW :love

Putting my name in!

I've only ever done kart tracks in Colorado and was excited to do some track days this year...until my cat had to go to the ER and cost me $4k.

It would be great to win and scratch that itch until I can save up the cash to start doing track days on my own.

Z2 is probably the best provider for new track riders.

To whoever wins this, I highly recommend working with instructors as much as you can. You will get so much better.

Can't wait for the 21st and the rest of the season!

I tried to win a free ticket in 2016, was not one of the winners but I purchased a ticket anyway as these guys said all noobs were still welcome in their pit. These guys were so friendly and helpful! The food was amazing. I just shared this link with some riders I have been riding with that have never done a track day before, I hope they sign up to do this. Thanks again you guys. So awesome. I've done I think 5 track days now, I know, not a lot, but it works in bringing new riders in that may normally be a little intimidated trying something new.

Thanks Ray. You're always welcome in the N00b pit.

Never been to a trackday, always wanted to. My now wife got me into riding when I met her years ago (her only transport is still 2 wheels). This would be the PERFECT explanation for why I need a 1 piece suit. Happy to help fill out the pit snack selection. I don't have a trailer or a truck, so I would be riding to the track unless someone can help me get the bike there.

My only question is what sort of tape do you use for wheel weights?

Here's to hoping

College student with sizeable student debt seeks an escape to ride his motorcycle off the street as his license may or may not be pending suspension.

Never done a track day, obviously need to get my rocks off where johnny law isn’t watching. Been wanting an excuse to get out my leather pants for a reason other than pride.

Not sure if I’m at 250 words but, please consider me?

As always, so much awesome in this thread. Love it.

Been wanting an excuse to get out my leather pants for a reason other than pride.

We're gonna sweeten the pot a bit and (hopefully) open this up to a few more people.
We'll offer FREE suit rental to any selected n00b who needs it for this event. (damage deposit will apply)

Thanks to Gordon from Cycle Gear for partnering with us and getting us some rental suits. Sizes we have are:
US/EU
40/50
42/52
44/54
46/56
48/58
Check out this chart for more info: http://www.alpinestars.com/size-guide/

If you get selected as a 2018 n00b and you'd like to borrow a suit, make sure we have a size that fits you. We have one of each size.

Tiny thead jack... I got a totally new cat for less tha $2k. It weighs like 33 pounds now, so that is value.
Kinda. He is needy.

Edit. I’m gonna try to join the fun, cause it is BIG fun.

I'd also like to throw my name in! Never been to a track before, I would love a chance to improve my riding skills and meet some more members of the community. I want to see what my r6 can do but i've been avoiding pushing myself too hard on public roads.

Really awesome of you guys to do this
