I'm looking at you Sonoma County!

(Napa has better wine, but Country ass Sonoma County is where the good cheese comes from)

Not all varietals. Sonoma Pinot Noirs kick Napa’s.

At least if I’m having more wine and cheese, life will seem better.

I'm pretty certain current research indicates an occasional glass of wine as minimally healthy but literally, nobody has one glass of wine.

Yeah, all of those 'studies' that found wine to be healthy failed to mention that the substances that made a difference was also present in the main non-water ingredient, namely the grapes.

That lack was apparent right from the start from those very first studies.

LOL, I certainly have been known to. I'm not a big wine guy, but some meals just want wine with them, Italian food in particular for me. Just a healthy glass of red for flavor while I eat.

There is a lot of research that suggests it is good in moderation. The value seems to be in the alcohol acting as a blood thinning agent, much like the prescription for a daily dose of aspirin.

Sonoma wine is excellent across the board compared to napa, especially when the Napa Tax is considered. in their quest to out-wine france, napa has become france.

-i'd rather be drinking beer but it makes me headachey

can't tell from the angle but that glass might be a little smaller than the ones we used for toasting glasses during our wedding. an entire bottle of bubbly and the thing looks empty still. it was kinda funny and no i didn't put an entire bottle in

Alcohol comes from grains / grapes
Grains / grapes are vegetables / fruits
Therefore alcohol and wine are fruit salads
Ergo, healthy for you.

This post brought to you by the morning 6 pack of beer, to be followed with a lunchtime bottle of wine.

LOL, perhaps, but the important thing to remember here is that Sonoma County has some kind of weird complex about their Cow Country status vs. Napa's wine country, and it is good to always torment people for their self inflicted insecurities. ;)

Sonoma County dairy is fantastic, they have excellent cheese, wonderful farm to table ingredients, and they should just own their coveralls and stop pretending they fancy. Being great Farm Country is something to be proud of.

Country Asses. :laughing

You are wise and your advise is wise. *eats more cheese*

being an elitist marinite, i'll take your word there is some chip on the sonomans shoulder but i haven't seen it. wife's uncle lives in sonoma and has wrapped himself in the good life there. granted, all his friends are transplants as well from far and wide so they wouldn't have any 'tude native to the locale, but it seems that the people i interact with in sonoma agree that it's awesome. the cows are cool, and if you can't find something good to eat you probably like the taste of paste.

Never mind the freaking cost of Napa wine.

I mean, it's good, but not THAT good.

We pretty much only buy Sonoma County wine after one too many snooty experiences in Napa.

Especially fond of Zinfandels from Carol Shelton who's been around forever.

Nice lady.

As far as cheese goes, Sonoma/Marin make some great cheese but nothing beats cheese from the UK

Hard to find Cheshire is among my favorites.

I believe Eldy makes a fair point yet is painting with a rather broad brush.
It's a distinction within a distinction. People should never confuse the Petaluma version of Sonoma County with the Sonoma version of Sonoma County. They are two distinct animals.

Sonoma is a bit of both I think. I live in the town and know at least one of the dairy guys who is a good ole boy, and his son is too. Many of the high school kids wear boots, drive big trucks and work on there family farms. I know some long time residents (Not just my wife who who's mom still lives in the house she was born in 40 years ago) and they seem to take pride in the good old days, before the snooty folks started coming, when there was just one stop light on 5th st. West and (oddly enough) Napa. There are tons of transplants (me 20 years ago) and many of them are upper crusty types. I've met most of the folks I know here through kids sports and one thing I really love about this place is that the overlap of country folk and fancy folk. the fact that Sonoman's of all ilk can put away tons of alcohol helps!
