Schedule is really slow on Wed. and I was considering sneaking up to Sugarbowl.

Never been up around this holiday. Will it be too crowded?

Storms are going to let up and the sun will be out, which means people will be heading up Wed in droves for the Holiday weekend. Roads will be clear, right now they are a mess though. Be prepared though.

If you leave early enough to get thru Sacto before 6:30 it should be a breeze. The return has a 90% chance of major traffic from Auburn on, + drunks, +cops. 80% on long lift lines.

this.

take your rock hoppers.

nice avatar! I honestly stay the hell off the mountain until at least the second storm. I don't want to go off a jump and ram into a stump at the bottom because the snow has not settled and packed in.

Damaging a new board would piss me off.....

it is going to be COLD, and the roads will be very slick. Drive carefully. It's been like bumper cars on Hwy 80 all day today.

Crowds shouldn't be THAT bad... it's too early in the season. There won't be any out of towners, and even locals (driveable radius) will have family stuff on Wed and Thu. Fri - Sun could be bad though.

It won't be normal weekday (empty) crowds, but it won't be anywhere near the Christmas - NYE stretch or MLK.

Thus rock skis/board. If you're willing to buy a new board, you should be willing to drop $100 on a beater from a ski swap to extend your season an extra month or two without having to ride like a pussy.

BTW, friends who live on Ski Run Blvd are coming to Santa Cruz this weekend.

Their attitude is while 100+ inches have fallen, it is not packed down, so there is not much base.

groomies ought to be fine, off trail stuff is still suspect

That's for sure, I don't usually hit the trees til January or so, might be earlier this year. It'll still be good to get on the mountain and hit some groomed runs. I might go for a half day on Thursday...
