Will Raspberry Pi run Windows RT?

I just heard of Windows RT and was curious if anyone knew or could speculate on whether it would work on a Raspberry Pi?

My thought is that since linux run's on windows machines (e.g. x86) that Windows RT may run on the same ARM machine is linux.

Anybody?

To my knowledge, RT will be preinstalled and not 'sold' as an OS. (Android, in comparison, allows one to simply download the Android source and build the OS as they see fit.) Dedicated hardware will come with RT, and Microsoft will release patches and updates along the way.

That said, Android has been ported in limited scope to the R-Pi, so who knows. It's possible, but it'd likely run extremely slowly given that the Pi is a glorified Pentium 2 with HD graphics - hardcore processing isn't exactly its specialty, you know? You're better off with one of the linux derivatives. Given that RT is ARM based, it'd probably run, but good luck getting a working image of the OS. And then you've got the whole touch aspect to deal with at that point, too.

Ya I read that as well that RT will only be released to hardware developers.

I really want to get a Pi but my linux skills are so miniscule that I can't justify it to myself even at $25.:laughing

Fear me!
+1 I wouldn't mess with trying to get RT running on a Pi. big headache.

linux isn't too bad these days. it's worth learning and you get to screw up things really bad in an instant :laughing.

Mmmmm...Faster
Pi was made for small kernal linux. IIRC from the dev notes, RT will be made to run the WinStore (like apples ipad does with apps). Also, it's an OEM product only at this point, so unless you have the MSDK sub, unlikely it makes much sense for you at this point.

Also, as already mentioned, the linux variants with ease of use like Mint makes it a snap. Try it: http://linuxmint.com/

it "can" run on the cpu, but there is simply not enough ram, the Pi only has 256 IIRC windows 8 requires min 960 (1GB minus shared ram)

remember that windows RT and normaly windows are not the same, the both have metro UI and thats the end of the similarites.
