that sucks for him. I hope he isn't hurt to bad.

Would have sucked a lot less if he wasn't riding like a tool on a freeway. He's lucky he didn't become a speed bump.

Hope his sneakers didn't get too scuffed.

Still - 23103 is Reckless Driving. Not going to like that one.

This might be a case where a more appropriate title would be, "Don't do wheelies on the interstate unless you are extremely proficient"

I don't know the situation involved, but if ever I had the desire to do a wheelie on the interstate, it would have been after ALOT of practice and proficiency on empty streets and parking lots...

I would think a cop has to witness that sort of thing for any kind of repercussions to come out.

The log is only saying what the reporting party (RP) is telling the dispatcher. RP calls in and says the biker was pulling wheelies and driving recklessly, dispatch puts that down in shorthand.

Now if the witness sticks around to report to the CHP and if the dude is dumb enough to fess up that was what happened, then yea...but based solely on an anonymous call, I do not believe there can be any cite.

Just think about it...what's to stop some random idiot with a hate for motorcyclists calling in every license plate he sees and saying they're driving recklessly? Cops ain't gonna do anything unless its witnessed by them.

I know it's not what he was charged with - but I'd say the witness (assuming they're around) plus the fact that he just randomly flipped over backwards is pretty compelling.

is anyone besides me amazed/disappointed in this soul due to the fact that it's RAINING today?

what idiot squids ride in the rain?

sounds like this has a good chance of being an accident by a new rider...?

Why would a new rider ride in the rain? Hell, When I was a new rider I was afraid when riding in the dry!

"what idiot squids ride in the rain?"

I'm assuming what you meant by this is that a "squid", "squidding" it in the rain is an idiot as opposed to anyone riding in the rain being an "idiot squid" :) Because I rode today, and ride in the rain alot :)

Let's just say if I had mojo, your post would be rated as an "uninformative" or "****" or something like that

It's a Santa Cruz Vampire. My Guess is either Moike or Seric. The picture is too blurry to tell.

I'd like to know if I'm a squid because I ride in the rain, do wheelies or because I do wheelies in the rain.

Sorry about the accident this morning, my shoe lace caught on my rear brake. :blush

Haha... wow.

Yes, that was on the way back from the San Mateo MC show back in like 2002. It was raining pretty hard in that shot. I had my ratty FirstGear rainsuit on that day. You can see the purple duct tape holding the split seams shut.

I'd never tried wheelies in the rain, and 280 was pretty much empty. So I gave it a go.

So I was cruising along on one wheel when a pickup truck merged on the freeway from an onramp. I set it down and the guy caught up to me waving a camera and giving me a thumbs up indicating, "Do it again". We were the only two on that stretch of freeway for a good mile in either direction so I popped it up and rode a nice one out through the rain.

I got to thinking... dropped back to the pickup, and reached in my tankbag to grab a business card. I drifted up next to him and handed it over, and gave him an "OK!?" and rode off.

A week later that photo showed up in my inbox.

There's a time and place for everything. I was on a stretch of 280 I had to myself at the moment, and my impulse control is capable of writing checks that it knows skillset can cash.
