coming up(back to Skyline) around 7pm yesterday, I hope you are fine. I'm sorry I didn't stop to help because there were 3 of you. Damn, coming up behind me so fast, you guys scared the s**t out of me.

Yea I'm confused too. You saw a dude with bike that was down. You saw two of his friends, and then... what came up so fast on you and what did it have to do with the guy that was down?

Good, good, that you asked. Sorry.

Well, the whole group was behind me first at the bottom. The 2 leading riders came up and were on my a*s so suddenly that they took me quite by surprise. The 3rd overtook me later on. About a mile up, I guess one of the leading 2 riders dropped the bike and I passed them on my way up. I kind of felt guilty that I didn't stop to help out.

It is clear now I hope.

Sounds like he had plenty of help! :thumbup

And maybe checking your six a little more often will result in less "oh shit!!" surprises! ;)

And hopefully it was just a drop, and not a crash.

Alpine is tight, bumpy, narrow, twisty and very busy. I know that checking your six is difficult in many spots. I can see how folks can show up unexpectedly. Not many places where you can see more than 25 yards. Hopefully the dude was AOK.

:ride on.

Yep Alpine can get you, a lot of those round benders where you go as fast as you can see. Used to be my home turf around 15 years ago.

CalTrans will be closing Alpine Road from June 27 through October 25 for resurfacing.

OP, I'll bet you smiled just a little inside your helmet, didn't you. Am I right? You don't have to answer.

Resurfacing? For what? It is fine as it is!
No, I did not, really. I was surprised that he dropped the bike on the way up.

Love Alpine! late 70's, RD350, low bars, rear sets, chambers, and just me, bouncing around from turn to turn up and down the hill learning throttle control and braking :teeth And as Budman pointed out, there is lot's going on and your 6 is pretty low on the list :laughing
