Boring as hell. If they don't clear out some back markers, and get some real competition at the front soon no one will watch that shit. It was like watching a really fast track day.

The weekend overall was a good time, but I would have preferred to stay home in hindsight.

Huh? WSBK not MA. (Were there any blue flags at Sonoma?!?)

Not as fast as I look.
I watched - see here other race thread post
I do think that the number of riders that can run at the front are very limited. Remember that Sykes was "da man" until Rea and Davies proved otherwise. I don't know what they could do on a BMW, but I would like to see.

Confused
What is WSBK suffering from? Is it a skill disparity and a money disparity or primarily a money disparity preventing development and top tier talent?

Are they going to a spec ECU next year or the year after?

Combination of rules package and just two teams spending real money. Plenty of talent. Not enough deep pocket teams.

So, do we finally admit that outside of MotoGP, motorcycle racing on the grand stage is effectively dead and a waste of money?

No. That doesn't make any sense.

Besides there is all kinds of great motorcycle racing that is not road racing.

There's another high $$$$$ budget motorcycle racing series that travels the world?

Nothing on the level of WSBK, or Moto GP, but there is always 'real road racing'. Though there aren't 20 courses around the world, of the 5 race events held every year like the Isle of man TT, North West 200, Southern 100, and Ulster Grand Prix really big money from factory teams gets spent.

How does that relate make everything else effectively dead and a waste of money? There are plenty of other racing series where the manufacturers invest millions and get a good ROI.

I don't think the factories spend anywhere near the kind of money on those series that they would have to spend on WSBK to competitive. They're also much lower in travel costs because they're not flying halfway around the world every other week.

Everyone here complains about the racing being boring and just Rea and Davies fighting at the front.

How do you combat that? Do we throw MORE money at it from the other manufacturers (who are all primarily invested in MotoGP and don't provide real factory support because they can't afford to and make most of their money on selling scooters and non-sports bikes) or do we bring everyone down to the same level via regulations tweaks?

I've love to see a breakdown of racing series and money invested by manufacturer. Because outside of MotoGP, I just don't see millions upon millions being spent on this stuff other than KTM in everything dirt related. I don't hear factory names being mentioned as the primary sponsors in BSB or MotoAmerica. It's always some other company first.
