Who’s buying a new ‘21 Yamaha Tenere 700?

I’m strongly considering and placed a deposit at Berkeley Yamaha.

Thoughts? The reviews are looking good. 👀

At a glance
  • 689cc 4-stroke CP2 engine, with high torque.
  • New lightweight, double-cradle, tubular-steel frame.
  • Slim, compact and ergonomic body and seat.
  • Aggressive, rally-bred face, with 4-LED headlights.
  • Adjustable, long-travel, 43mm upside-down forks.
  • Remotely adjustable rear suspension.
  • Rally-style cockpit, with tapered handlebars.
  • 21-inch/18-inch spoke wheels, with adventure tyres
  • Slim, long-range fuel tank, with 16-litre capacity
  • Compact, rally-style, multi-function instruments.
  • Switchable ABS, for on-the-fly adjustment.
  • Screen and handguards give good rider protection

Do it! If they aren't all spoken for yet. I would imagine they are. What did they tell you?

We have 30 guys that ride at work. About 12 on dualsport/adv bikes. Trying to get someone to buy one.

Each dealer is getting 2 maybe 3???

34" seat height, way out of my range. It looks more off-road oriented than some of the more tourer/commuter-friendly adv's, that's not necessarily a bad thing though.

Do it.

I won’t, but you should. :x

Cool bike. Application oriented and versatile enough to be a solid choice.

Funny, I was going to start a similar thread today.

With its $9999 MSRP, what can I expect OTD and does anyone have buying advice as it would be my first new motorcycle experience?

Off topic a bit, and for that I apologize.....but...
I never thought I'd ever own a V-Strom but a friend of mine just pulled the trigger on a new one and I confess I want that bike.
Clearly I'm getting old. :afm199

Add 9% sales tax, +$900,
and ~$600 more for freight, dmv fee, dealer setup.

I’m waiting to see the “1050” in person... particularly the Orange and White one...

The adventure style is alright with me.

I like the new Yamaha, though... clean styling!

The challenge is you are looking at one of the hottest bikes on the market ... so no one will be making deals on these.

So maybe $12,500 OTD? Maybe $12K?

I looked at a "hot" bike, MSRP $13K, OTD was $16,200. Ouchie! So I passed on that. This was a similar situation, people putting deposits down, more people wanting them than bikes available.

don’t think Berkeley Yamaha plays that way ... we got one of the first FJ-09s with a small deposit, and I remember it was pretty painless and straight-forward ...

if I were in the market, and if Berkeley Yamaha would take a deposit from me at this point for whatever T-700s they can get, I’d be pretty stoked ... :dunno

I’d like one. It looks like it really checks all the boxes to be a fantastic all around bike at a really good price point. I don’t have the budget for one right now, but I could see it taking the place of a number of bikes in my garage someday. :thumbup

Here's a video comparing all of the "top" adventure bikes that includes the T700. They mainly like the price. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVgFbV_kB60

For me, it's worth the extra $3500 for the KTM, but I do more dirt than anybody in the Bay Area is likely to use a bike like that for.

My local dealer took deposits for the high demand 790R, but didn't pull any tricks on price when I bought it. All you need to do is talk to the dealer about the purchase and get something in writing for what they're willing to do. At least that's how it has gone for me the few times I've purchased new bikes.

I think I’m 2nd or 3rd in line. Deposit placed a few months ago. I think each dealer will get 3 to start.

Delivery in Apr/May.

This is exactly what the bike was designed to be -more off road capable.

y'all remember when honda announced the african twin was coming to the US? samething with this bike as the demand will be high for the first couple years. I'd wait til the honeymoon phrase wears off and buy one at a reasonable price.Bike magazine had pretty good write up on it.....

I love my 1090R, but I'm considering going over to team Blue and downsize to the T700.. It's 100lbs lighter than my 1090 so there's that.
