I know there are some of us here who love the brown water of life. Unfortunately none of my friends can stomach it.

Looking for people to get together with, enjoy a dram or three, and bullshit about stuff. Last meetup in the search function was from 2005, so time to bump that shit.

How come all most all of 295566 posts are now posted by Dean Mad? He looks like Mean Dad's negative!

Japanese was decent before Whiskey Bible butthole decided to blow the market up. Now it's mostly mundane, overpriced blends in a bottle with some Kanji on it.

IWAI JAPANESE Whiskey pretty good for a $40 whiskey
BevMo sells it..

If you can go to total wine or K and L or some other places it's probably about $30 normally.

Recently given a St. Augustine bourbon and it's good at times but super oaky.

Major PITA
Sipping a little Tin Cup right now. I'm still cutting m whisky teeth as it were. I'd guess it's the MGD of whiskys.

Smooth and flavorful.

Buffalo Bills in Hayward is about to open a distillery next to their micro brew beer type restaurant. I'll be in there when it officially opens.

Love me some whiskey. Right now my favorite is Kilbeggan 21 year old. I was just in Paris last weekend at an Irish pub that had an amazing selection of whiskeys. I had a small batch single malt from Teeling called Omra. Very nice.

Was going to bring food to my brother's house for Christmas but he always makes so much I figured I would just get him a bottle. He likes most whiskey. Got him a bottle of old forester 1920 prohibition style. Maybe he will crack it open Wednesday.

Friends wanted to do a tasting at St George's yesterday since we were right next door at Faction Brewing. We all tried their Breaking and Entering American Whiskey as part of our tasting, my friends were like WOW it's good SO SMOOTH! Me: "bleh... bland, underaged/underproofed spirit"

So my brother had tried that old forester before. He was appreciative and liked it. We cracked it open. I was pretty happy with it. Says he prefers the 1910 so I'll have to try that next time.

1910 is lower proof and double barrel, so it will be significantly easier to drink. Some people like the "pow" factor of higher proof whiskey.

I like whatever is in the bottle...
Went to Russel City Distillery in Hayward owned by the same people as Buffalo Bills Micro brewery. They didn't have any whiskey yet but had a real nice Vodka.
It's a nice place.

Just picked up a liter of Lost Republic bourbon at Costco for $40, so I guess I'm in. It joined the collection.

One of my customers just dropped off a bottle of Basil Hayden's Dark Rye and a Green Spot Single Pot Irish Whiskey as a start to my education on Whiskey.
I guess I'm working for booze now.

My brother tries it all. I had a bottle of 130ish proof Booker's one time that we liked. If it's a gift for him I usually like to get him something a bit higher octane that way I know it doesn't get poured by randoms that may be over at his place for a mixed drink especially if they can't tell the difference between a cheap whiskey that really isn't good enough for a well drink and higher end stuff for enjoying neat or with a few drops of water.

He often has to entertain people at his house who drink his hooch. I'm not gonna tell him "don't let these people drink the good stuff". It's his whiskey, he can do what he wants. But if I buy him something north of 90 proof most people steer clear unless they have some appreciation for the stuff.
