Where to find a reliable, competent independent?

I'm trying to get work done on a new-to-me bike - another BMW F800s. It needs both service and suspension work, and I'd like to get those done in the same place. I had initial success communicating with a highly-recommended independent shop (which is an hour away), but now I can't get a response. I also left messages (voice and text) with a more-local friend-of-a-friend who is a shop mechanic and does side work, but I got nothing back.

Can anyone point me to a responsive and competent independent wrench? I don't care if that person works in a home garage, after-hours in a shop, or out of a van. I just want to get the work done without going to the dealer (because I don't trust their suspension knowledge).

I miss having ALANRIDER7 available...

First thoughts, El Skip.

Second thoughts, Catalyst Reaction

What service are you looking at? Valve adjustment?

I sent El Skip an email early this morning. Hoping he's got some time in his schedule (and lets me know). As for the work...

What kind of suspension work? Upgrades or just a rebuild?

Recently, I bought a 2007 BMW F800s. It has some nice bits, like a full Remus Ti exhaust and 3-way Ohlins rear shock. There are a few things it's missing, though, like front suspension work, a Power Commander to go with the Remus and good steering head bearings. So, here's what I need:

(1) install Mupo valves in the front forks
(2) do a fork rebuild/refresh with new seals
(3) install new steering head bearings
(4) install (and tune) a PC-V,
(5) replace a bent clip-on; and
(6) do a valve check w/adjustment (if necessary) and replace fluids

There might be a little more, too, like tire swaps, but the items above are the items I need to get handled first.

Daredevil motorsports up in Sac should be able to take good care of you.

Thanks for the rec - never heard of 'em, but they'll go on the list.

As of now, things seem to be progressing with Shawn (El Skipador). Assuming he can work me in, I might be set. :)

I've been talking to Shawn, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to work it out with him.

I go to SuperPlush for all my suspension needs.
I'm not a fan of going into SF to get the work done, but I've heard good things about SuperPlush. Do they handle other maintenance, too - specifically, valve checks/adjustments?

Have you contacted 707 racing suspension in Rohnert Park?
They might be able to help out.

I looked into them, but they seem to be off-road-only. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the impression I get from their site.

If only there were a decent independent in Concord...
