When / How Much do you Sleep?

I have a REALLY weird sleep schedule. I go to bed around 8:00PM and wake around 2:30AM. I start work around 4:30AM, so it works for me. I wish that I was more productive at 3:00AM, but I usually just read / watch TV / watch Youtube. I take sleep aides to help myself sleep. I used to take Ambien for many years, but then I started getting weird reactions- and I got off of it.

I have always been an early riser. As a kid, I would be up at the crack of dawn to walk my dog, now my Wife and I do that every weekend. WE love having our Pitties off leash, so we take them out at that time to let them chase JackRabbits and have a ball.

On the weekends I love being able to nap in the afternoon- but I try not to do it, because that only screws up my sleep cycle even more. I'm extremely fortunate to be married to a Woman who can sleep through a Hurricane :laughing So, if I wake up at 2:00AM and start cooking, or whatever- it does not bother her.

One thing that also affets my sleep is our Puppy, Mabel. She's 1.5 years old now, but she took the potty training to the extreme. She let's us know WHENEVER she wants to potty, even at 12:00AM, 2:00AM, etc. She is a PITA!!! We love her but she drives us both a little nuts. When our Contractor is available- he's going to install a doggie door in our kitchen.

So, what's your sleep schedule?

Tired early but I try to go to bed around 10.
I toss and turn until about 4 or 5 and start my day irritated. :laughing

I've found the occasional nap right after work helps but my brain is weird so I have to have a 3 or 4 hour window with nothing to do, for my brain to be able to relax and sleep for an hour.

That's me.
I would give up my left nut for a solid 8. Haven't had one in years.

Having no nuts at all I would sacrifice my left pinky to fall and remain asleep. I often wake during the night. At least I have my dogs to keep me company!

I've had poor sleep forever. I would fall asleep relatively easily around 10 or 11 for a few hours, be awake for a few and then be in and out of sleep until I gave up at 5 or 6. I probably averaged 4-5 hours a night with a nap sometimes during the day.
I started trying various strains of cannabis, some strains seemed to help keep me asleep a bit more but then I tried ABX Sleepytime Softgels (25mg but they also have 5 and 50) and it's been much more consistent. I usually get close to 7 hours a night.
Of course a good sleep regiment is essential.
I am not a paid promoter for ABX, I just like their shit.

Bed at 8, read until 9ish, up at 6ish.

I’m always shocked at how little people my age actually sleep.

So its not just me?
After a full day of mtn biking or dirtbike riding I sleep well.

Otherwise, I wake up at 2 or 3 and get up and read for a bit. Tolstoy puts me right back to sleep.

I used to have a hard time going to sleep and staying asleep. I started meditating before bed and now I sleep through the night like I am a teenager again.

Usually get at least 8 hours, though have to get up twice or so to use the bathroom, but at 63 I seem to sleep far more than most my age.

Not a napper though.

Things have changed, from 18 years on grave shift. Live with naps.
Now in retirement, very seldom do I lie awake and ponder the days' problems. If I do it is a maint. project, how to.
I'm up 'til 12/1am, sleep to 9am, I drop right off, after the pee breaks too.

My hay fever medication says it's non-drowsy, but I swear to god that it drops me like a cheap rug and I will stay under the covers without so much as a squirm for 9 hours. The rest of the time I'm hitting the hay at about 11 and emerge about 7. I like a solid 8, 9 if I can get it. I used to live on no more than 6, but I'm telling you, sleep is my new drug. I feel amazing after a good night's zzzzzs.

My SIP schedule has become 1am - 8am with an afternoon nap sometimes.

My SIP sleep schedule has altered too.

Usual was 11-11:30 and up at 6.30

Now 1-2AM and up at 7:30 to 8AM.

Every few days I fall asleep earlier. Like last night and sleep for 8ish.

I sleep pretty solid.. sometimes if on my left side I wake up with shoulder pain but a quick flip has me back to sleep quickly.

Sixty-eight last August.

My body says: SLEEP at 8:00 p.m. Says WAKE at 2:00 a.m. No watch, no alarm, no pets, wife on different rhythm. Six hours a night for decades.

I like BARF, I always find out that I'm no alone in this life, that someone else is also on the path I trod.

For years I was an early riser because of early morning practice. Once I didn't have to, I slept in as late as I could for years. In bed around 12AM, up around 7:30 for workdays, 9AM on weekends.

Flash forward to having a kid and the sleep schedule is whack for years. Whatever you can get, whenever you can get it. But I learned to power nap.

Another flash forward to the current sitch, I'm consistently inconsistent. Night before last, 1AM up at 7:30. Last night, 10:00PM up at 3AM, back to sleep at 4AM up at 7.

Lately, I have at least 2-3 nights a week of really bad sleep (up a lot, not settled, dreams where you feel awake).

My sleep schedule is so messed up I just grab some rest when I can. A guy can try to be in bed every night at 10, but there are so many outside factors in my life that effect when I actually get to bed, or even if I stay there, that a schedule is mostly a dream.

Upsides; I can work at a fairly high functioning level for a few days with minimal sleep.

Downsides; sometimes I'm completely destroyed and sleep away an entire day.

Almost 19 years of working 3 12-hr night shifts per week has given me a terrible sleep schedule. Flipping back and forth is hard, and I've never been a morning person. My ideal sleep time would be from like 0600-1400. I stay up for 24+hours at least once per week, but then I also like to sometimes sleep for 12+ hours. Other days it's only a couple hours at a time with some naps. I'll probably die earlier because of it, but that's just fewer mornings I'd have to endure. A sunrise is much more beautiful for me right before bed.

10 hours, which is more than what most people need

I am spent by the end of the day (give the day my all) and I am knocked out until I feel the need to go to the bathroom and then I resume knocked-out status

When I get up, I am already thinking about the next steps to get stuff done. With SIP, there are no 9-to-5 office hours
