Wheel balancing.

What are you using for weights since lead is no longer available. Cutting the steel kind are going to be tuff to cut.

They make 1/8oz weights. There are zinc weights so probably not too hard to cut. I just got a tire changer so I better figure this out as well.

I had no idea. All the weights I have are lead.

Same here, I reuse my weights.

Interesting observation: I noticed the BMW spoked wheels always seemed to need a similar amount of weight in the same spot. So a couple of tires ago I balanced the bare wheels and swap tires without a re-balance. There is no noticeable difference. I imagine for track use this might not be so great. But for banging around the backroads and sub-100MPH highway runs I no longer see a reason to balance the tires.

YMMV.

I don't know what the weights I'm using are made of but I get them at Harbor Freight, never had problems with them, I always gorilla tape them also.

I haven't balanced a set of tires - street or track - in years. The guys at the track always ask me to take out the cush drive, etc, but I just tell them it's ok don't bother. I haven't ever noticed a vibration or imbalance issue. Maybe it's why I'm so slow out there though! :laughing

I second YMMV though.

Napa ones look the same as the Motion Pro. Got them as close with the 1/4oz and called it good.
