Went for a ride today........was going down 84 to the coast from 35.

I'm third in line so to speak, meaning car1, car2, me. Car1 slow, car2 want around car1 really bad, I'm just waiting. section of road comes up thats clear for passing, I pass both car1 and car2, no problems.

Get down the road come up on a group of 3 riders. The lead being a girl on a sportster, then a dude on a wing, and one more dude on a wing. All just crusinig about 30-35.

I ride in the mirrors of the last wing for about a mile or so waiting for the go around sign. None. Not even moving over to one side for abit as a indication they knew I was there. So I'm just waiting for a good spot to pass.

Check my mirrors, car2, from earlier, had got around slow car1 and was now on my ass. I mean on my ass. He wasn't backing off one bit.

So, here I am, behind slow ass bikers with a pissed off car on my ass.

What would you do?

I'd give the car behind me the back off symbol while lighting up the brake light. Then pass those bikers asap.

If they were just cruising at 30-35 then it must've been a pretty straight section of 84 (there are some part were 35mph on a wing would be a pretty good click around a corner), and even if it wasnt, wouldnt be to hard to pass them up in one straight shoot on a sport bike.

Probably even more dangerous then that though was the first pass, of car 1 and 2. I have seen it done and car 2 will try and make the pass at the same time as you, and it gets nasty from there.

But yeah on 84 if you have the ability to pass a pair of cars, 3 slower bikes shouldnt be to tricky.

What ended up happening?

I'd just hang back and enjoy the ride. By hang back, I mean "extend my distance" from the wing riders. That way you'll show the "pissed off" car that you're in nooo hurry to anywhere... and nothing in front of you would be able to surprise you.

Of course you could pull over to let the pissed-off car pass.. but wait, you already passing wanted to pass everyone so I guess why pull-over now?

Addendum.. any additional reason for the car behind you to be pissed-off?

lol I say wheelie past then endo in front of them to make sure they are all awake...:twofinger But seriously I use to have a similar issue where I would pass a car no problem but passing a bike always seemed akward to me. I felt like I would offend another rider by blowing past them. Basically I just sit in there rear field of view for a bit and then pass as wide and safely as possible then toss them a little wave thanking them for not veering into me. But I dont ride street anymore anyways so i dont worry about road shit/drama.

as for the cager, whatever, he has no reason to be pissed unless you adjusted his side view mirror when you passed. Plus maybe he wasnt upset with you and just fumed about Car1, either way steer clear of those road ragers, I probably would have tried to get away from that car asap.

I'd just safely pull to the side of the road and let the drama go by ....

Above all I like to play.
I would have let car2 pass car1 before me. I don't want someone in that much of a hurry behind me.

In the second situation I would have let the car pass me. I don't want to be stuck between two sets of fools.

I would hit the button next to my lap timer start that ignites the tear gas canister hidden in my Akra exhaust...

I have to admit, reading this account was reminiscent of a math word problem... If car2 leaves alice's at 4:30pm travelling 52mph, and Goldwing group that is travelling at 31mph left Alice's at 4:22pm, what color is pissed-off car1?

What sucks is when the person is speeding just enough to make passing even that much more unsafe. Sometimes it's not so bad if they're hardly moving, it's the ones that are going fast but not fast enough that are trouble.

30-35 on 84? That's pretty slow if your getting close to the beach. I would have safely passed everyone & enjoyed the rest of the road all the way to the beach. I don't care what they are riding...waaaa, waaaaa.... goodbye! Then just go back to my "pace"....:)

pass the bikes as soon as I approached them
I don't know about that particular section of the road but where I usually ride riders on cruisers got deathgrip on the handlebars so they don't give any signs
