What to do with the spare key for the motorcycle I sold 6 years ago?

While cleaning up my desk today, I found the spare key to a motorcycle I sold some 6 years ago. What should I do with it?

It's a KTM key, which come in pairs with the little plastic bridge between them, not just a spare stamped-metal key. Still has the dealership's business card attached with a zip tie.

Should I post a M4M/W seeking the new owner? Should I toss it? Should I keep it as a memento of "the one that got away?"

Internet opinions are very important to me, and I don't know what to do without them!

If it was a Ducati key, keep it. You can just flash it, and it will get you on the island at MotoGP, and the free eats. :thumbup

Track down the bike and take it back...it's just like if you sold your WoW account and the noob never changed the email address...just go to the website and request a password reset...BAM! Yours again!

Srsly...just throw it away, who cares?

That key is going to have electrical problems soon. Best to get rid of it before it leaves you stranded.

Keep it for the memories. I have keys to cars I got rid of 30+ years ago! I don't think I ever really meant to keep them; they just sort of never got thrown out.
Come to think of it, I gave the buyer of my Harley both keys last week- d'oh!

That sucks!

Well, if anyone sees one of the super-rare red 2002 640 Supermotos running around with a Ventura bike-rack on the back (with a custom little aluminum bracket made for me by Nichols holding it onto the tail) and a BMW-style outlet on the left fairing, know that your spare key is safe with me! Oh yeah, and check the clutch perch periodically - it broke when I fell over off-road and I had it welded back together.

It's funny, I'd see the bike on craigslist or SBR for sale periodically over the years. I put over 13,000 miles on it in one year of ownership, and the highest mileage I'd seen it listed with, several years later, was around 15,000.

Well at least its not a common bike from your description, which would make pinpointing it that much easier. :)

Put it on CL as a vintage collectors item. I'm sure you could get $500 for it. I've seen crazier stuff on CL before.
