What rifle would you put this glass on?

Out of the blue I got a Leupold Vx-1 3-9x40mm rifle scope as a gift. I do not have a rifle here in CA.

So obviously, I must buy one.

I'm right handed but left eyed so I typically shoot long guns left handed except for shotguns and short bbl bolt action.

MVP predator is a leading contender.

BARF militia, what say you?

Cheap ammo, accurate, zero recoil. Awesome varmint caliber for small game. Can take coyote down with right shot placement.

Yes.

It's a tad smaller than a .22 but shoots longer range, flatter and hits harder. Only disadvantage that has been told to me is on windy days the lighter bullet could get blown off course a wee bit.

Came late to the thread. Others beat me to some great suggestions. There's always the rare lefty AR that makes a great ranch rifle. Unless you go with a .22 lr upper...that'd be cool. Roughly same price range if not cheaper than the CZ.

CMMG upper (got from Roman btw, and it makes a great plinker...I just need more mags!)

You can email and see if they'll make you a lefty, but the deflector on the .22 is forward more than on the 5.56 so I doubt brass would be much of an issue here. Add that to a cheap stripped lower (~$100) + LPK/trigger/grip of your choice and you're looking at roughly $250 for your complete lower. Plus side is now you also have a platform you can throw more uppers on later down the road if you so choose. Also, the dedicated uppers are more accurate than the bolt conversion kits.

That VX-1 would go nicely on a rimfire.

I haven't owned a CZ, but a good buddy has a 550 in 416 Rigby, and it's a gorgeous piece of work. Nice trigger, excellent machining, beautiful walnut stock. Awesome product for the money. They used to make a lefty 17HMR, but I don't think they do anymore. Check out GB.

Very interesting. Great suggestion. Appreciate the iron sights. Man, those rings look high. Bedding in needed or it floats? My nit-pickery has no end.

Here's a review:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/cz_527_american_rifle.htm

"CZ-527 has free floating barrel which normally is flaunted in photos with 100 dollar note between barrel & stock fore end to show barrel is not sitting on or in contact with stock. A free floating barrel is one of the traits a match rifle has to increase & maintain the accuracy."

Very informative. Thanks!

Bolt action ideas?
