Given some of the recent threads elsewhere on BARF, thought it would be interesting to find out where everyone stands on COVID-19. Seems like within the BARF community there is as much diversity of thinking and opinions about this as there is in the US in general.

This poll is set up so you can select multiple responses. Please limit yourself to choosing either A or B from each of the pairs. Your responses will remain anonymous.

I blew it and missed the second B.

Like always.. should have read the instructions first :laughing

Personally, I would have had an A, B and C.

This is binary and will follow the two polar choices, I don't see this as being that informative compared to a medium value offered, in which case I'd expect the medium to be the overwhelming choice.

Or better yet, have 4 choices with moderate and severe on both sides.

This survey is designed appropriately. It forces you to take a side.

With the exception of this question "B: We should stay locked down until there's a vaccine - no big events, no indoor stuff."

Shouldn't have included the last 6 words.

I voted B across the board, but here's the caveat on the last question, if we had locked down hard when the administration knew how dangerous it was and developed a solid strategy for testing and tracing we could've opened up by the end of spring.

Only plausible if we closed our borders until this passes, globally.

Look at Montana and the Dakotas for example. Relatively low infections until recent.

To many B's and A's to understand your code. :laughing

Assume the first to B's and the second A.

And if so why the A??

I commented above on the design of the survey. It’s designed to force you to make a choice. My A response is obviously nuanced.

I think with appropriate safety measures in place that people actually follow and social distancing we can open up. I think we need active infection sampling and we need to be ready to shut down again at a moments notice.

I voted as if I were still in CA, but in reality I seldom wear a mask in stores because there have been no known cases in the area in the past 100+ days. Many still do though.

And if you have appropriate testing in place and a low enough case count, I think it’s acceptable.

This ain’t going away and we can’t wait for a vaccine. We need to open up safely.

don't know what was in the pandemic play book, but yeah shutdown travel from other countries and returning residents quarantine and test for 21 days.

if the we had jumped on it in mid February we could be rolling right now, but we will be going through at least 3 more waves of this for the next couple of years; fall/winter 2020, spring/summer 2021 and fall/winter 2021.

I've been telling family and friends I not going anywhere till 2022.

So far results are about what I expected. People who think the 'Rona is real also feel we should comply with mask-wearing requirements, and freely choose to one when it makes sense to. A few people appear to agree with those two, but when it comes to the lockdowns, feel it's time to open things back up.

I suspected as much. While I believe a lot of the nay saying about the virus comes from lack of understanding of data and science combined with a need to get back to work, there are some who believe the threat is real, and still would like to see the restrictions eased when it comes to getting businesses opened again.

So the economic/financial benefits outweigh whatever the preceived health risks are.

Thanks for the reply.

I think the results so far are pretty interesting.

80% thinking it is serious is probably about as expected.

I am just not sure about opening up everything. Opening up some things yes... got to get some normal going. I cannot imagine going into a bar as an example.

Even if we are allowed to open my office I am holding the line at one dude with me per day and others working from home. After months of struggling we are finally getting our shit together on it. Still more difficult for me personally, but best for the health of our team.

The anti-maskers are the very people that make opening back up dangerous. They can't seem to understand that 1+1=2.

I fully agree with you regarding opening up. It has to be well thought out and applied at the local level, kind of like Newsom is trying to do.

Note: that's why I also indicated

With the exception of this question "B: We should stay locked down until there's a vaccine - no big events, no indoor stuff."

Shouldn't have included the last 6 words.

Because now the survey had unintentionally introduced nuance. You've now lead the participant.

:laughing

On a motorcycle forum no less where taking time to put on safety equipment is ingrained.

I think I can put on my mask(s) in about 1/4 of the time it takes to put on my helmet or even my gloves or jacket.

Mind boggling that we have anti maskers here IMHO.

The really funny thing is that the anti-maskers are exhibiting the same characteristics as the anti-vaccine people.

Ironically, there is probably little overlap between the two groups.:rofl
