In Baja, sometimes you have to make repairs that you wouldn't normally have to try. I'll just leave it at that for now. :laughing

There were some interesting repairs on this year's trip.

I'm gonna guess repairing the battery terminal with solder, wrench to deflect or concentrate heat.

This is also my best actual guess.

Guess #2 isbattempting to make a flux capacitor to go back to a time when the bike wasnt broken

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Both terminals shook loose on a brand new battery. The repair worked for a couple days and then a new battery was found.

Winner winner! While my bike ran without a battery in circuit, I didn't have a DC system. This meant I didn't have a fan, lights, starter and as important as the fan, I could not charge my GPS on my bars.

I'm happy to say that the repair worked for half a day, until I accidentally hit the starter button with the bike in gear. I then pulled in the clutch and hit it again too quickly. I believe I melted my solder job and the battery failed again. I was balancing a good solder job with melting or exploding the battery.

In the end I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a brand new lightweight battery from a guy on an Alexander Smith No Whips Ride.

With pictures and explanation "Battery Stuff " issued me a complete refund even without the battery. I left it in Cativina.

Reminds me of the 4X4 guys welding the steering box to the frame with batteries in series, jumper cables and nickles.
Gotta love the MacGiver stuff. :thumbup
